ESOC maps

There are many new maps available in the ESOC patch. Here's a little preview on a few of them, as well as who created them.

ESOC Adirondacks

ESOC Adirondacks

Estabilish your colony in the nature of the Adirondack Mountains. The lake around the cliff provides interesting tactical options, in addition to an extra source of food. A trade route runs along the base of the mountain while the forest is home of several Huron villages.

ESOC Arizona

Players start at the top and the bottom of a badlands desert divided by a big mesa. Resources are plentiful but scattered all over this open region. A long trade route crosses the center of the map from west to east.

You start next to a fordable river in a zone of dense forest. Resources are generous but scattered in the maze of the Ozarks. Take an aggressive approach to secure additional portions of the map and also don't forget the plateau across the river.

Baja California is a arid peninsular region divided in two by a mountain range. Hunts and trees are scarce and scattered, but precious metals are rather common. Expand toward the center or on the sea to ensure extra resources for your colony.

You are about to settle a colony in the sundarbans of the Bay of Bengal. Make your way through the mangrove forest to get access to further resources. There are no trade routes in this region but Bhatki devotes may join your cause.

Players meet each others at Bonnie Springs along their journey through the Spanish trail. You decided to settle your colony here in the wild west to claim the abundant natural resources. Take advantage of the trade routes to get an edge over your opponent.

ESOC Cascade Range

Town centers are placed on the opposite sides of this valley, nestled within the Cascade Range. The thick forest gives way to large glades characterized by the presence of many berry bushes. There are not many animals to hunt but lakes on the sides are fishable. Klamath and Nootka natives have settled in the middle of this region.

Town centers are located at the opposite extremes of this mountainous region, divided by a rock face. Follow the tortuous trade routes that meander through the mountains to seek new resouces for your colony

You are about to establish a colony in the southern part of Florida, surrounded by resources of every kind. The starting market and the nearby trade route can help raising a strong economy in a short time. Sea resources could boost your economy even further. Seminole and Carib natives may also help your cause providing useful technologies.

The Gran Chaco, also called the Chaco Plain, is an hot and semi-arid lowland natural region of the Río de la Plata basin. Although you won't find any trade route on this map, you may ally with some Tupis in order to contest the middle of the map full of ponds.

ESOC Herald Island

Herald Island is a small, isolated Russian island in the Chukchi Sea, to the east of Wrangel Island. It rises in sheer cliffs, making it quite inaccessible by ship. Nonetheless, this island is well know for providing a lot of Tin Mine, Caribous and Moose.

ESOC High Plains

Town centers are dangerously close in this wide and open region. Many herds of bison and pronghorn populate these lands and silver mines are also rather common. Forests are however confined to the north west. A long trade route crosses the map and taking control of it may be crucial in the long run.

ESOC Hudson Bay

Players are on equal footing on this region full of every resource. During the cold season the map is covered with snow and the water partially freezes. Different trade routes move from different spots but they all head toward the sea.

Players will battle to control the sea in the Indonesian archipelago. Make use of the catamaran to plan the expansion of your colony on both land and sea. There are not trade routes but Sufi and Jesuits have settled on these islands.

Jebel Musa, named after Musa bin Nusayr, overlooks the southern side of the Strait of Gibaltrar.

Players face each other on the opposite sides of a water course. Take control of the river shallows to deny the passage to the opponent and ensure additional resources for your own. The river freeze in winter leaving your base less protected.

Starting next to a crossable section of the Klondike river you will battle to secure additional resources for your colony. Claim the gold in the middle of this region or venture in the forest across the river to seek more sources of food. Try to estabilish your dominance over the long trade route for a long term advantage.

Players joined the Seminole natives in this swampy and mysterious place. Resources seem plentiful but you need to make your way through the hostile swamp in the north to access further silver and food sources. It is said that merchants dare to venture through a trade route in the middle of this region.

ESOC Manchuria

Players start along the coasts of this sunny region. Thanks to the sea there are always several sources of food and gold while the access to wood in the later stages may be more problematic. Shoalin and Zen have built their temples in the middle of the region, while commercial traffic takes place in the north.

This part of California contains many forests where herds of deer and elk roam. Players are separated by two cliffs and ponds. Mapuche and Zapotec border the traderoute line in the middle of the map.

ESOC Pampas Sierras

Pampas Sierras is a semi-arid zone characterized by highlands and choke points. Resources are not scarce but they're spread over the region. The plateau on the west is also home for numerous wild llamas. There are no trade routes nearby but several Inca or Mapuche settlements.

In this narrow scope, players must try to control their map side to gain access to resources. Due to the middle oasis the player with the superior skirmisher count will be heavily favored in this narrow chokepoint. This map features two independent trading post lines on the outskirts of the map.

ESOC Thar Desert

The Thar Desert is a waypoint for merchants in the silk road. In this big dry area, the fauna is scarce, but you will find for sure much copper to mine. As you can be really lost in the desert, you don't really know where your settlement is, and it may change every game. The particularity of this map is to have a rotational symmetry repartition for hunts and mines which is still random.

You are located high up on the Tibetan Plateau, dangerously close to your opponent. If you don't venture out of your base you will be soon out of resources. Take advantage of the long downstream trade routes and capture the numerous wild yaks for a long term stock of food.
