Re: The Passage of Time

It would be highly amusing to my younger self but I actually don't like this kind of thing anymore. People can google time and the second law of thermodynamics for themselves. There is no relation other than the obvious relation between time and any change including change in entropy. By mentioning...

Re: The Passage of Time

845 "In truth the only relation it has with time is that it sort of assumes time is moving forward." as in a completely direct association with time you mean? as in - 1650 "conventionally you need a linear concept of time in order for the second law of thermodynamics to make a certai...

Re: The Passage of Time

438 - conventionally you need a linear concept of time in order for the second law of thermodynamics to make a certain kind of sense and the second law is considered to be very important and then some- if we understand time better then we can possibly better understand any laws of physics- that's a...

Re: The Passage of Time

How is falling at the first hurdle nit-picking? it's actually important to ask this particular line because it teases out the question of whether time is fundamental or emergent.

Re: The Passage of Time

NO - he literally didn't say that- Quoted from 657 - " Of course it wouldn't make a difference if you sped up everything in the universe by the same amount, that's the point of the analogy." and what makes anyone think that the other qualities are linked to time according to the factor one...

Re: The Passage of Time

No- if you video'd a real life event of someone swirling around a ball in a cup just below the level at which centrifugal forces would force it up the wall of the cup and then watched the video on fast forward way past the speed that the force would kick in normally then the balls would not go up th...

Re: The Passage of Time

Well calling the most crucial part of the concept a good way to explain it is a poor use of language, isnt it? So obviously there is space, one thing is in a place and another is in a different place until all objects are placed. But why does space take space? If space is just the place where all o...

Quote 1721 "Ok, this is my conclusion: if we are a simulation then a truer reality exists. If that is true, then another even truer reality could exist." - this is basically what descartes meant by "cogito ergo sum" the original posits that one's brain could be in a jar and ones ...

Re: The Passage of Time

On the physical- Watch how a footballer doing keepy-ups with a football looks the same as oneself doing keepy-ups with a balloon. On the metaphysical- The axis from which we draw our graph of reality on the paper called time are existing and not existing. Nothing is real/nothingness is a reality/som...

Re: The government, taxation, and banking

When people are allowed to make decisions on their own affairs they generally do it better than governments- so long as they do it according to a functional set of values- hardly a shock is it? All life is the result of successful cooperation and competition. Every country in the top 20 is a mature ...

Re: Charges Filed: Trump Campaign Russian Ties

Conflating extremes of an economic theory with extremes of speech( i,e definitions i.e how language works) isn't logical IMO- at what point do the 'many forms' of something differ so greatly from the original that it is no longer the same thing at all?- Right I meant thinking in extremes. It can st...

Re: Charges Filed: Trump Campaign Russian Ties

China lifted those people out of poverty by killing 45 million people, market solutions have lifted half the worlds population out of poverty in the last 50 years including more in china than were 'helped' by the great leap forwards- we spoke about this before- you said that 45 million was worth it-...

Re: Charges Filed: Trump Campaign Russian Ties

If we can't agree a definition of socialism then 'modern socialism' must just be an even less defined thing- I suggest that Marx is the best person to define socialism and that seems as he is dead the best place to start is to read his books. Conflating extremes of an economic theory with extremes o...

@iwillspankyou

Currently faith in nation states is being eroded, the only beneficiaries of this are actual socialists and corporations (more so the corporations)- nation states democratically driven and well informed are the only power big enough to stand up to both corporatism and fascism IMO

Re: Charges Filed: Trump Campaign Russian Ties

This is the whole point- socialism/=/ 'the left'- actual state enforced classic marxist socialism is evil in every way ... Yet modern socialism is not that. If that is really your whole point, then you are indeed so entrenched in one side that you fail to see the other side can have nuance, too. No...

Re: Charges Filed: Trump Campaign Russian Ties

This is the whole point- socialism/=/ 'the left'- actual state enforced classic marxist socialism is evil in every way not just because of it's equivalence in authoritarianism to any other fascist ideology but in that it necessarily stands in the way of market driven ideas that have proven to create...

General appeal to the community- Am I being trolled here? or should I just facepalm and cease bothering? I don't know, seems unlikely you're being trolled.
