Re: What would you say to Nietzsche?

Whatever you believe in, it doesn't really matter as long as it helps you in a way (e.g. in having positive outlook on life). Utility of beliefs is important as well, else we lose sight of the importance that's in the discussion. I think the world is deterministic, that's also why I think it's not. ...

Re: YouTube Channels where you can actually learn real-world skills

Since knowledge = power and Metis knows a lot, could he be considered the most powerful aoe3 gamer there is? Or is there somebody playing aoe3 who is also in politics?

Re: YouTube Channels where you can actually learn real-world skills

I've always liked this quite by Heinlein about what a competent person should be able to do. "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take or...

lets punish both? That's the point I was getting at, predictably zoi missed the point No. You explicitly hold Hazza's definitive, major violation of the rules relatively negligible, while claiming Carrot's obsessively speculated and uncorroborated, minor violation of the rules to be of great magnit...

Re: Creepy Clowns

Having psychopaths running around is not good, but if it were just pranks this confirms that a new level of stupidity has been reached. If a prank involves somebody looking like a psychopath running after pedestrians with a knife goes too far. I really hope that this is an offence and that these peo...

Re: Is rushing in AOE3 dead?

There are two bad extremes of not so fun not so interactive games: One where somebody just sit backs and booms on 4 hunts and 2 mines and the other where one takes the 2. or 3. hunt and never lets go of the control. Maybe people just see maps at different places on this spectrum. Which side produces...

Re: Is rushing in AOE3 dead?

Wow, so much whining about balanced maps, seriously go out and play RE standard and tell me if you stand any chance against tier 4 Russia on Carolina or Sonora. Port and Dutch (FF civs) given huge buffs. These civs have been buffed in general, ESOC Patch Team didn't do it specifically to improve se...

Maybe with "better life" he meant that addicts could more easily get help in a world where heroin would be legal, not just that they have an easier time obtaining heroin.

Re: What is the British standard play?

I think the standard play is to send 3 villagers, getting early market if possible, gangsaw + manor spam in transition, having 200w for a baracks ready upon age up, sending 700w for more manors, placer mines and steel traps if you don't have it already, sending 600w for possibly a second baracks and...
