Well if it is LAN I dont know. Check the cable that connects the 2 PCs or if wireless be sure you are not losing net at any point.

Do you play on LAN or ESO? If ESO do you play from same net? It might be the case that there is an IP conflict and ESO kicks you off. It seems you are really losing the net at some point.

Dunno if competitive or not but it gives a bit too much advantage to the loser. I dont think there is the necessity to do that in the current state of balance.

Best pick system would be every player choses his own map at turn. Game1 is an admin map.

20 min colonial is doable. Actually nothing strange with that I'd say. Industrial is probably only possible with Otto. Others are very unlikely. Trade monopoly would be ok if with resets.

You want a mouse where you can set dpi so you can disable windows accelleration. Without that you're going to have misclicks all over the place.

BR don't have x2 vs vills. They have no bonus nor penalties.
Also Sioux are farly strong civ on RE. Definitely top 6-7.

Btw I never stated that xbows don't win per cost. I said they beat their counter which they do in a real game, for a number of reasons. Hence the nerf.

I apparently know that in a real game xbows don't have a chance to counter BRs because the cav ball just goes on top of you and then they don't even deal ranged damage to begin with. Stats alone they do fine, of course. In fact xbows do better than colo skirms vs BR and other goon type units.

BR nerf has nothing to do with the redesign of Sioux. BR has to be nerfed because it's simply too good just like sepoy and ashigaru. Specifically it beats the counter unit (especially xbows) which is the bottom line to decide a unit nerf. Still, being nerfed in HP and not attack, raiding with BR is...
