Re: Winning Silver and Sportsmanship

And who is going to stop them, if they're not self-aware? I'm starting to realise Aristotle was right. Some people are born with a slave mentality. They have to constantly measure their lives against others'. Freedom is too much of a burden for them to carry. They have to somehow cling to other peo...

Lol what a spoiled brat. She even got gold last time. Learn from Starcraft's soO, who has 7 silvers and 0 golds, and manages to not disrespect everyone who worked just as hard as him but got worse results than silver.

Re: Age of Empires Definitive Edition is out now!

Looks like a bad mix between AoC and AoM imo. How would it be, since they didn't exist yet? I'm going to play some AoE DE for the nostalgic value. The campaigns, mostly. I played some yesterday and I noticed they didn't even improve the pathing, which I expected they would have improved at least a ...

Re: How to block an ip

You can block the IP in this case because for quicksearch it will try to set up a p2p connection. It may find a match but will then fail to set up the connection. The result is you won't match with them. In theory at least.

It must be tough to be born into that life. For some, at least. I have some newfound respect for monarchs after watching the Crown.

Same here. There's little harm really. I'm pretty allergic to upholding traditions just for the sake of it though.

You can use windows firewall, or your router's firewall if you want to stop them before even getting to your PC

I think they're actually more popular here. Probably because we Dutch do better in them. But I've always found the events to be more enjoyable to watch, too.
Not that I watch them any more.

Re: British Discussion Thread

There is that aggro style of play against Brit where you disrupt their boom build with early pressure and then try to retain map control. I haven't seen it a lot but I think it could be a decent counter against VC builds or other eco-heavy builds. Wouldn't work for all civs, of course.

The importance of patents to R&D, particularly in pharma, has been well known to literally everyone for decades. Plenty of research has been done on it. So no, I'm not "quick to conclude" it.

Re: HealthCare

You cannot have a free market with patents. Patents are among the heaviest forms of regulation. Your definition of a free market seems to be very twisted. And your idea of a free market is laughably idealistic. No one, especially in health care, would ever invest in R&D if any discovery you mak...

Re: HealthCare

Free market healthcare doesn't work for a very simple reason. It's so simple that I legitimately do not understand why this is still up for debate. - Patents - Inelastic demand When a company discovers a drug that treats a certain disease, they patent it. No other company can now sell this drug. And...

Re: British Discussion Thread

6 The basis of our minimalist approach was that changing too much would hurt adoption, and changing too much at once would diminish our grasp on balance. Without the former consideration, we can still make good progress through iterations. This game has some real issues and if we get to give advice...

Re: British Discussion Thread

I've really been struggling with Brit because nerfing manors goes against our philosophy of not changing civ bonuses and I think the balance in strength between boom builds and non-boom builds is currently okay for Brit. Nerfing manors is a clear nerf to boom builds, which feels wrong because it is...

Even if your cav are fully carded, and even if they then cost effectively beat old han reformed, there is still no reason not to have a couple of skirms or cannons in your army comp.

93 I don't see how 140 wood manors would go against the philosophy of changing civ bonuses. They still get an extra vill with a more expensive house. Besides, you changed french and russia vill costs as well, which would then also be messing with civ bonuses. We don't like to nerf civ bonuses (noth...

Iirc most Brit games in the tournament were colonial games with early aggro from either both sides or only the Brit side, but I could be wrong.
