Re: EPL4 Week 3
JulianK (4) vs minimoult (1) - I predicted Julian 4-1 last time and my prediction got BTFO by Ungurs who actually 4-1'd Julian, but I feel more confident about Julian vs minimoult considering Julian 4-0'd him in the KOTOW tournament. However, this is a very different situation, and mini will come pr...

Re: EPL4 Week 2
Not as much detail as Kaister's writeups but: JulianK (4) vs Ungurs (1) I think Julian will be better practiced for this match than he was for his match against Kaiser, and even against Kaiser he still took two games. Mitoe (2) vs Revnak (3) Revnak has been active all this time and knows most of the...

Re: ESOC Premier League S4 - Official Trades
CMC team is very strong but as usual at depends a lot on player forms, how much time and effort people put into practicing, whether they over or underperform in matches etc. I think the only team that really messed up is BIGs but they still have a nonzero chance of winning, then the 3 other teams al...

Re: BLITZ TREATY
I raise my concerns 1. This map completely kills the fun of the treaty game. The game is about instant response and hand speed, so I would rather play a normal rush game. 2. I think the fun of treaty games lies in the strategic view of the map and pre-planning. Although you high rank players are al...

Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
remind me when we started to use lakota instead of sioux Lakota is actually easy to say and type so switching from Sioux to Lakota is easy. It's not like Iro where the DE name is long and annoying to say/type, so most people still use Iro (or so I thought but I read through the thread and people ar...

Re: Treaty hidden cup 2.0
1. In order for players to be motivated to play their best games and schedule matches quickly, a prize pool is probably required. But it shouldn’t be difficult to raise one. 2. Maybe a qualifier for the last two players 3. I’d prefer a 1v1 tournament this time, but wouldn’t mind 2v2 if that’s what m...

Re: What's stopping you from playing AoE4?
The game is in a pretty good state right now, for most of the users on the forum. It's got custom hotkeys and good balance. Custom games and whatnot aren't what they should be but the ladder experience is good. I'm playing age4. Personally age3 is 1000 time better then age4. Yea I prefer aoe3 too A...

Re: What's stopping you from playing AoE4?
I agree with GoodSpeed about aoe4, unfun micro and unsatisfying macro. To be fair I haven't played aoe4 since 2021, but I don't think those things can be fixed with patches. These days I don't really play much RTS outside of grinding aoe3 if there's a tournament, but if the urge hit me again to play...

Re: Worst Cards in AOE 3 right now - and how would you fix them
10 is good in treaty. 6 isn't a good card and probably wouldn't appear in any serious deck, but I don't think it deserves top 10 worst. Raiding with dragoon units is pretty common in teamgames. The rest seem like good choices, although I have never used or seen #5 so I'm clueless there. For #4 Sepoy...

Re: why is skirmy so good and why doesn't he blay in tournaments
Why so good: Doesn't seem that amazing micro wise (at least compared to how players like knusch and kaiser used to be, but still top lvl among players today) so I guess it's just solid understanding of how to play a lot of matchups and great decision making. Simply doing things like understanding yo...

Re: Why do not more people play treaty?
The disconnecting and crashing is not as big of an issue as it used to be. Now you can savegame, although it does still force trade civs to trade again, it's usually still a playable game. So instead of wasting 40 mins due to a disconnect you waste 10, for people to join the lobby and download the s...

Re: XiLED got Cancelled ????
Main thing I'm curious about is reason why XiLED suddenly got removed from the site. If it's just because of using the word "suicide", then that's insanely hypocritical, because lots of players and casters have used that word to describe players being wasteful with units (interchangeable w...

This is outrageous if true verbatim but can’t help but wonder if there’s more to the story, it’s hard to believe that ESOC would do something like that for such a petty reason

Idk about the whole tournament but for my series I played 4 brit games and won 3. It was definitely a very strong pick on some of those high res/easy to wall maps.

Re: Treaty > Supremacy
We don’t play rated games in treaty so the current elo range doesn’t mean much. I don’t remember elo ranges of the past but I do remember pr ranges, tr top players would usually hit around pr40-41 (Julian might’ve gotten higher in 2020 when he started winning every damn game), while I remember ep to...

Re: Treaty > Supremacy
Yea, I don't think this thread is very fair. Julian is the only treaty player who improved enough at supremacy to be competitive in a big tournament in two months. For me, Lukas, and kingownage, it took years and thousands of games before we could be competitive in tournaments. Saying that supremacy...

Re: A reflection on the state of the competitive scene.
- The role of 'laming' in high level games - Has game knowledge replaced mechanical skill? In my opinion aoe3 has always been very much about game knowledge. Though this is true more so now than it was back then, because of all the lame stuff. Back then it was more like knowing timings and knowing ...
