Re: Lakota (Sioux) and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois).
Where I am from it is pretty well known that Iroquois was what the French settlers called them. To most it is pretty bad, the younger crowd don't seem to care that much. Haudenosaunee is not hard to pronounce, just take 30 seconds and apply yourself to learn it... it really isn't that difficult. Ho-...

Re: just get rid of walls...
Playing vs walls is annoying to play against, I play so rarely that if I do play against that style I will just resign. It just isn't fun for me and don't feel like getting into a 40 min game where I will eventually lose. Not sure if it has been mentioned in here but making it so that you can't dele...

@gibson Why did you think it was so shitty?
When i left the movie theatre I thought it was underwhelming too, but as time has gone on I have liked it better. It was still entertaining to me.

Can someone explain the fur trade mechanic?
Do the Civs now hunt, and then trade food(fur) for higher amount of gold? Or is there some sort of fur bank, like a mine where villagers gather fur?

I am pretty excited for the change, adds something new for me and I have always like the historical context of the game.
Then again if it changes the balance I can see why the top guys wouldn't like it too much.

Re: Quantifying A Nerf
With enough data, stat is a good help too balance the game (or anything) but in a game with so many civ / map / game style, i need 1000* more data than that. I can take in consideration the PR gap, mu, map and more stuff if i want but i can't (i tried but my computeur can't handle so many variables...

Re: Quantifying A Nerf
Polls give a general idea of the balance, and I think they're better than stats although it's not ideal. However, I believe that a top player consensus is very accurate This makes the most sense, that is my point. In a poll someone like me, who hasn't played much since 2005/06, has the same polling...

Re: Quantifying A Nerf
u5799 Stats are misleading? but polls and opinion are accurate? I think that is where will disagree. People can be easily misled by polls/surveys. I know counter-picks occur often in tourney, but do people often green into bad matchups in rated ladder games? What civs are good in ...

Quantifying A Nerf
Discussion in the Japan thread got me thinking of this: What is the criteria for a nerf? Is it because a civ is lame? How do we quantify 'lameness'? Do people care about playing against a lame civ if they win? When I look back at old RE stats and see Iro winning ~60% of the games I can see why it ne...

Re: Japanese Discussion Thread
i think foremost it's the same problem that everyone has with japan - it's just so lame. if you are untouched you win seemingly by default... you can be rushed but if you defend well (which usually isn't too hard) you also put yourself in mid-late game where you are just stronger. I guess it is all...

Knusch is definitely more successful as Japan. Mitoe's Japan is also really good, but anyway he's so inconsistent in tourney it's barely relevant. You just have to watch tourneys to realize how much Japan is played lol. And that's despite being a "poor" tourney pick, as in, it can get cou...
