Re: Japanese Discussion Thread

There were a good amount of RE maps that had decent design (GP, Yukon, Sag, Sonora kind of, Andes, California, Yucatan, New England, Siberia) but they all had spawning consistency problems and many had some small but crucial errors. Carolina was actually a decent map, just needed one more hunt + sta...

Re: EP 1.2: A balance update

Just from scanning this discussion thread one gets the impression perspectives can still be rather contrary on the same matter, which makes me wonder whether people either have become so good at this game over the years that nothing's really left but discussing cosmetical changes or if the game is ...

Re: AoE3 on a 4K Monitor?

If you have a 4k monitor, you have the computer to support it. Go run Farcry 4 on max settings or whatever people do with those beasts. AoE3 is the game of the mediocre laptop/5 year old desktop :p

Re: Does otto counter germany?

As diarouga said. Rushes don't work in theory, but can actually be quite effective when your opponent doesn't scout properly/gets lazy. See that China mirror on tibet where someone (was it Boneng?) Xbow piked the other guy and won super hard.

Re: Sioux Discussion Thread

The problem right now is that this entire civ depends on a fortress timing, which admittedly is very strong, but if you don't win the game right there there is no way to come back. +1. Basically Spain, but with horses instead of dudes sprinting about with swords. Must be why Spanish people are so g...

Re: EP 1.2: A balance update

It was played. Where do you get the idea that it wasn't used from? To be fair, them being played once is basically not at all. I agree. I'm not aware they were used only once. Where did you get this information from? I meant in top 32, it's from that winter tourney stats analysis thread. It was 8 i...

Yeah that was a weird game. IMO Japan should win that on the patch by just cutting their boom a bit and going mostly ashi + some yumi.

Re: Indian Discussion Thread

Some think they are under average, some think they are rather good but nobody thinks they are op, that's why sepoys aren't going to be nerfed. They just havent been 10/10 rushed If sepoys get 2-shot by the TC though then any early aggression from India is pretty much done. Sepoys shouldn't cost 15f...

Re: Portuguese Discussion Thread

lol when the patch team released the notes of reducing ports vills to 80f everyone speculated they would become op. Imagine if they boosted them even more. Also the patch team wants to keep the changes as small as possible so as not to overnerf/boost civs. Think of otto. Everyone thought they would...

Re: Portuguese Discussion Thread

Yea, ports dont suck now as they used to But, they still suck? For the first time I kinda agree with thebritish. It really feels like the patch team just wants them to be a shitty version of French or Brit (except more fortress orientated). Sure, their standard builds are much more streamlined, but...

This is sioux. -gets unique bison shipments -gets unique hunt ageup -doesn't get basic market hunting upgrade (ST). http://i.imgur.com/x6AnRkL.png?fb Well that's what's so unique, right? Honestly I want my Sioux Teepee idea: Teepees offer slightly better gathering rate. Say +4% for every Teepee. Bu...

Yeah! Isn't a guy named Big D from Vancouver? IC's player IIRC? Honestly I'm pretty new to the scene, name does sound familiar though :p. Our top players (BluntedObject10, Sion, Yakal) don't really travel much though, mostly just to Northwest majors. Silentwolf and bladewise come up to visit fairly...

Re: Data Analysis: the winter tournament

but as we see, asian civs are also picked for many times. german+french are not more popular than china+japan+india, and the results between ger/fre and the asian are also close. so if you just nerf german and france, it may become an "asian dynasty" again. Why these results don't really ...

Re: Improving Native Tribes (TP)

What if native TPs got a god-tier vision upgrade? Don't touch the upgrades and units, but make it so that building the native TP gives you a really sweet auxiliary bonus akin to an extra outpost worth of vision. Makes thematic sense as well, because being homies with the natives should equate to mu...

Re: Sioux Discussion Thread

sioux is a problematic civ to design without killing their uniqueness. I don't think indian civs can use (semi-)ff as their main strat without feeling broken simply because they don't have minutemen. This problem doesn't arrise for both iro and aztec, because these civs have great shipments to comp...

We are looking at slight nerfs to Chinese Fortress Age play and a significant nerf to Old Han Reforms, currently. Imperial Meteor Hammers are being buffed, however. Yes, I understand. but If Chinese players can't ff. because they rush hard or cavalry at age2 Chinese players can't age 3 or age 3 but...
