Revolt Duel
Anyone ever done a form of treaty where you have to stay in age 4 and revolt at the end of it? Seems like it would be fun, mainly a war for the trade route if there is one and two sides trying to snipe each other's factories. I don't know about the rest of you, but whenever I think of Age of Empires...

Re: how can i counter Germany's mercenarys?
Merc style germany is a more inconsistent variant of normal germany. Sometimes they get really good mercs (jaeger, manchu, black riders and hackapells are some of the best I think) at which point the strat becomes really good. New England has Highlanders. I think they're my favorite. wat Saloons on...

Doesn't look like every game went back up. I know for a fact I beat a German player a few levels higher than me in a rated game and its not showing up :(

Re: German FI/Merc build?
They get 10 settler wagons. IF you send all the shipments and if you send them all in a row thats really risky and greedy.
Also having only 3 starting eco units means you cant be as flexible super early game. I like sending 1 vill out to herd or chop wood right away

German FI/Merc build?
I suck ass at Germany. I find them too weak economically and inflexible. (I feel pretty much forced to build a TP and send the SW shipments first and second each game) I know I've seen Aiz and Mitoe do interesting stuff with mercs and FI-ing. Whats the process for those builds? Any good recs to study?

Learn how many units need to shoot a particular unit to kill it. If 4 skirmishers one shot a unit and you use 15, youre overkilling.
Unpopular: Don't like attack move. People at higher levels will abuse it by bringing tanky units like vills up close to the fight.

You can cast my brother and cousin play.
Full disclosure: They're a private and conscript and their games take like 3 hours long but they make up for it with long periods of not doing anything and stacking like 6000 resources before aging.

Re: Can somebody test if this French card is viable? (Voyageur)
Hi, I have just completed the rigorous experiment and concluded that, unless it is used as a surprise tactic during a 5 vs 5 hussar battle (healing them during the fight = coming out on top easily), this card isn't so good when sent first in age II :( But, there are other possibilities! At the very...

So your crazy builds are actually just an Edge of Tomorrow style trial and error? I'm so let down.

I just wanna get EP to use the maps, but when I try to launch it it doesn't work. I attached a screenshot of what pops up. When I do as it says and clicks update, it downloads an update... from 2076. As seen in picture 1.

I would test it in some unrated games. I think this would work in a game where you aim to win one decisive fight, which is how my games go when I play the Samwise build.

I sit on my couch drinking coffee and watching movies/playing AOE3 from when I wake up (1PM) to 2 in the morning.
Also, you kicked me for being too low level once and it hurt my feewings but now I know you were just too engrossed in Chekov to crush noobs.

That's actually where I got the idea from! He got somewhat unlucky as his opponent (Mitoe? Umeu?) went with Cav first as the Ottomans which was really weird.
Similarly, last time I lost on this map as Ports was when I did the Native rush as Ports against a Spanish player and ran right into Pikes :(

Man, I just love using Portugal on Saguenay. So many different options, all of them viable IMO. You can do the expected crazy water boom, or go ATP and take the trade route and seize the middle of the map, or, my personal favorite, a 10/10 with the Hurons and Cree providing you a pretty scary push v...

As Aztec, rush ASAP or if you're on the water you may have a shot at winning if you can control the water.
Hardest matchup for Japan IMO is India, since they get such a strong early rush.
Crazy idea: Rush as India, ship British spies to kill Japan's monks.
