Re: Diamond market

But theres literally nothing stopping a company from selling lab diamonds as if they are real diamonds. So why does the difference matter if there basically is no difference?

Re: Mathematical problem

I'm a little behind, but https://i.imgur.com/cfEcqaE.png top line: 50 + interest on 50 bottom line: start w/ zero and gather at 0.64 the interest is always better with these numbers. With different interest rate and cost, you could see they might intersect, making gathering a good investment for a ...

If you fix t it turns into a linear function I think.

Re: Mathematical problem

Yea. I get the point. 10k res at 70 mins is basically same as 10k res at 90 mins ingame. However, what if we assume that t<300 and the game ends there? We find profit = N ( (92-50) 1.007^t - 93 ) So if t is small, its not profitable to make boats. Otherwise you should make as many as possible. In t...

Re: Mathematical problem

No boats then.

Exponential increase is insane. Its probably not accurate for aoe3. In terms of aoe3 equivalents, you assume that our resources will eventually lead to a 10000 vill economy.

Re: Mathematical problem

I think with that change it's going to be "as many workers as possible", but I'm not sure yet. In that case the number of days is constant and independent of the number of workers. If you refer to my calculation, that means we find a linear relation of profit = N * (some positive constant...

Re: Mathematical problem

u845 yeah I got a similar thing. I think the problem is that we need to calculate the value of the wine on the 14062th day, regardless of many days you take to gather it. If we get done on the fourth day, we should be allowed to collect interest on it for the remaining 14062th day. Otherwise the 1 ...

Re: Mathematical problem

Aaaah, I get it. The problem with the exponential 1.007 is that profit is maximized if you play the game as long as possible. In other words, playing the game for an hour while fishing with one boat is more 'profitable' than playing for five minutes with 50 boats. After all, we're assuming in this m...

Re: Mathematical problem

u64 you may have converted to problem from aoe to mathematics incorrectly. It turns out that in the way you explained it the value of your 9000 bottles is maximized by taking as long as possible. It turns out that this summation of 1.007^1+1.007^2+... Blows the fuck up if you take very long. I did ...

The solution seems to be that you should let your workers slack off.

Re: Mathematical problem

So we want to maximize the function
F = sum from n = 1 to number of days taken (number of workers * 0.64 * 1.007^n) - number of workers * 50 * 1.007^(number of days taken)

So then we want to maximize this function.. hmm

Re: Mathematical problem

Wait, if I understood this right you will make 9000 bottles, and a bottle's value is 1*1.07^(number of days since it was produced).

If that is right, then the answer is that you hire one worker.

If you read closely I don't think I'm saying that a hard coded AI would be better. I'm saying that strategically this AI was lackluster. Yes and I disagree. Is that really so hard to believe? Did the AI do a good job at understanding the counter system and basic build order or did it do worse at that than what humans can code into the AI? It did worse than what humans can do. And so was the manor build time. Besides, do we even need fast age change when all fast age civs are nerfed and slow aging civs are already better? We definitely do not need it. It's just highly desirable. It's bad for the game when only one option, among many, is viable. This needs citation or log...

Re: SC2 Deepmind Demonstration

Or maybe I just don't agree with what you're saying. Seem possible? For example you said you might be better off hard coding strategic concepts. What is the production capability of lab diamonds? That seems a relevant thing to figure out first. If they can just produce diamonds like it's nothing, then I think this just proves capitalism doesn't work. People have been willing to pay that much for diamonds, so why wouldn't they keep paying tha...

I also don't agree with your notion that you'd be better off hard coding strategic concepts; A* showed significantly better strat...
