Best AoE3 Features!
Hey, in the spirit of u184 's recent posts/threads about AoE2 DE, I thought it would be interesting for us to talk about what some of AoE3's best features are! I have been watching AoE2 DE videos on youtube a lot (mostly viper's), and while I find that game entertaining to watch, ...

Re: EP9: JAPAN
Nagi's aren't a problem though. Nerfing the nagi HP card is a pointless change that just makes the patch notes longer and doesn't actually solve any problems.

Re: EP9: JAPAN
Maybe just keep it as simple as yumi att to 15% and clubs 65 export 65 export clubs is a great idea, I hadn't even thought about that. But yumi attack is by no means OP in colonial, it's only insane until late fortress when it becomes effectively a 32% attack upgrade with the pavilion aura. Better ...

Re: Meteor hammers
Yeah the 2x artillery multiplier always seemed too high to me, however they don't have goons and hand mortars aren't very good and are impractical to train, so I guess I understand why there is a decent argument that they should have it. I would personally be in favour of nerfing meteors and buffin...

Re: Are multiple resistances possible?
Yeah and also some multipliers are hidden. They really did a poor job, it's really messy and hard to figure out At least it's not as bad as AoE2. The fact that all bonus damage and unit tags are essentially hidden in that game is the main reason I have no fun playing it. Not including any of that s...

Re: Are multiple resistances possible?
As a work around, you can give units with the right kind of attack a negative multiplier against the unit or unit type in question. That is how Galleons take 50% less damage from fortifications (as they have the siege unit tag, and most fortifications' anti-ship attacks have a 0.5 multiplier vs. si...

Re: EP9: JAPAN
What exactly are the main qualms people have with Japan currently. I feel like the perennial arguments that they are a little too slow and scale a little too well are still true, but how exactly do we want to solve that? 500f/300w start sounds like a great change that will help them not be so slow, ...

Re: EP9: INDIA
Mathematically and experimentally, if a unit is 20% stronger, it only needs to have around 10% better stats. Currently, compared musks (this has probably been said before a bunch), sepoys have 27% more hp, 9% more ranged attack, 10% more siege attack, and 25% more hand attack. With break points take...

Re: EP9: JAPAN
What about fixing golden pavilion so it affects base stats instead of upgraded stats? I feel like that would be a better 1v1 and teamgame change than a nagi hp card change.

I think it would be better to reduce the shipment modifier further (maybe to 5%) but give them a 100w start.

Re: EP9: XP Alternatives to Trading Posts
Native TP's should give some economic potential, but probably not xp. I always liked the cdb mechanic at Cree posts and think that it could potentially be interesting to allow all native tp's to train 5 native villagers (cree would still get CDB as a bonus and for uniqueness), but that sounds like a...

Most files do not need to be recompressed back into data.bar and can remain as xml files in the data folder for your changes to appear in-game.

Re: The underrated case for forts
I think forts should be slightly weaker but much easier to construct, as Callen is right that they are situationally really strong if you are able to build it. The difficulty of building them is by far their main weakness. It would be interesting to see their HP nerfed a bit (e.g. 8500 hp to 7000 HP...

Re: Germans Discussion Thread
can someone tell me how i can beat jap with ger? Pike or dopp semi-ff ideally on a map you can go stagecoach. You can do a lot of different things from there, but greedy options like going age 4 for heavy cannons or 1k wood and a TC drop are definitely out of the question. Xbow/pike or tower rush i...

Re: AOE2 DE THREAD
The most recent patch seemed to buff quite a few civs kind of in a big way, at least according to SotL on YouTube. Teuton buff seems very cool. I do completely agree with you that the counter system in AoE2 seems terrible from the eyes of an AoE3 player, the rock-paper-scissors isn't quite there sad...

Online classes are total trash, and not just for me/my school. If I were like the european folks who aren't charged tuition I'd be less salty, but currently I and my family are paying just an ABSURD amount of money for 5 hours of group (10-12 students) videochat with professors a week, like I could...
