If the Japan player doesn't wall, I usually win. But if they do wall and yumi, it gets a lot mor complicated. I would like to be sieging shrines with sepoy, but they can defend their shrines with yumi. I can't start mass ghurka to deal with yumi too soon because 1) no siege 2) yumi>'>'ghurka 3) Japan can easily make a few nagi and surprise you. Also, I can't make sowars to deal with yumi too soon because 1) I'd rather not spend 200w on a stable 2) yumi+ashi beats sepoy sowar or even sepoy sowar ghurka early on. The only other colonial options are waiting for 3 huss which are too late (unless u send them before vills which is too risky imo) or shipping 4 camels early (which is also too risky imo). I thought of aging up (5 sepoy 600w 300e 600g) but sitting by your agra with 20 sepoy for 5 minutes while you age up really doesn't seem like a good idea vs japan, and if you age without the 300e I think you just loose because your eco is too bad. Plus, you are definitely out of resources in your base at this point so if Japan stays age 2 you are pretty much dead.

Do a fast rush with sepoys and while Japan is still in TC then ship 600 wood and boom yourself. Then add a few Gurkhas (NOT A LOT CUZ JAPAN WILL ADD NAGAS) like 10. MOST of your infantry should be sepoys and micro your gurkhas really really well on ashis. You need to add cav yourself to deal with the yumi. This is a decent way to start out I think being a Japan player myself.

- Keep and eye on the hunts around the map for shrines.

- Take map easily vs Japan

- If you can do control groups that would make your micro much better in this micro sensitive matchup.


- Just improvise and see what works best for you. That's the best way to improve.

You break through the wall and so the same. Also after 12 sepoy just go pure gurkha while adding a stable with 600w. Gurka+sowar with constant pressure and he should never stabilize.

Japan booms too much early on then theyll lose vs that rush for sure lol

There are a couple of replays in ASC which showcase India beating Japan, I suggest you try to analyze those games.

There''s no universal definition of lame strat. It depends upon your civ vs enemy civ. For some civs, certain civs are lame even if they aren''t.

xbow pike is lame for Japan probably. Yet it is a good strat.

Same goes with sepoy/jan rush. They are lame, but still a good strat for anti japan tactics.

If I lose to china as Dutch, I''ll call the guy chinalamer.

I didn''t make the post to actually call sepoy rush lame. I just wanted to know if India has any chance for winning this MU without using the sepoy rush option.

Lame is something else and widely used many different occasions. Id, for example, call Japan FI lame.

You can water boom ofc. On land you kinda have to rush.
