I really support pecelot here. Until Monitors are out water might even be underpowered, depending on MU on and map though. But one shouldn't even be able to get monitors tbh.

Tbh I find indonesia land stuff so underwhelming, you can really only play water.

It's good to have a map like that, since 99% of ESOC maps have no or bad water.
Water is a part of the game, if people like it or not and should not be removed.
The thing about esoc patch is that you say you want to balance the game, but not be too much different from the original. And then you almost completely remove water and make most maps with trading routes.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

There is no counter system for water, some boats are just more efficient than other boats. Artillery is an effective counter to boats, though a broadside can take out artillery very easily. Towers are also one of the only defenses against water in age 1 and 2, but they can just get killed during construction extremely easily. Coupled on top of that that monitors are overpowered on RE, as they allow a player who has complete control of water but no land presence to win as they can kill stuff while you can't even get to them. Water is just broken because if one person has it, which is normally the case, it is extremely difficult to get it back. If I ever made a mod for age of empires, I would either straight-up remove water, or I would completely redesign it.

I don't see a problem with war ships themselves, they all play different roles, are expensive, take a while to train, have a production limit. I beg you to come to my 3 culverins with any ship to show me how a broadside attack is so good — unless we're talking about Offshore-Supported frigates.
You don't really need to defend yourself from water in age 1 Though you realise you need like 3 caravels to take out one outpost?
Monitors are a threat from age 4 onwards only, plus they got nerfed on EP.
Don't expect to be successful against water if you have a land deck and start contesting it in age 3; there are tons of ways to deny water early on, sometimes simply by shipping 2 caravels (you can always make one or two more like yemshi ).

Well, Indonesia seems to be one of the richest maps in terms of natural resources, on Baja you have TPs, on Manchuria you have untouchable TPs, Hudson has both Cree and TPs
indonesia doesnt have much natural res in terms of land, and manchruai and hudson arent real water maps thats what im saying
Indonesia has a lot of in-land food, with berries it's one of the richest maps. The second part I must have confused, sorry!
