we've talked about combining savannah and the desert-y savannah to make an oasis map.

Savannah and Sahara, you mean??
Wow, I wonder where you got that idea! : O
yeah, oasis is a classic aoe map that this game lacks
zoom wrote:... Sahara needs more food, especially in the middle true to its design, and improved mine rebalancing. Savannah seems incredibly similar to Sahara. Were they made by two different people at the same time?? We could turn them into a combination and call it Oasis, in the style of previous AoE titles. ...
Alps has very low hunts and japan starts 2 ochard start (also 4.5 berry bushes) its like 13 14 k food for japan. Which makes them automaticly op on that map. Other than balance, map is pretty nice imo

That last sentence is what we need I think. If the map design is good maybe riki/garja can look at the resources and add some to make it a competitive map.

They are pretty nice maps to play for fun. Such as ceylon rockies and sone other maps. Those maps has their own meta too only problem is resources balance.
, what became of this? I and others offered presumably helpful feedback. Are you or anyone else involved with K&B or these maps interested in that feedback, and improving the maps? It's a shame having quite a few good maps unplayable due to fairly basic balance problems.
Maybe try and re create the feel from some age of mythology maps, like oasis, med, tundra, watering hole etc... low hunts can be good for the game aswell
Durokan standardized many of the maps with a resource pattern since resource balance was the biggest concern. I don't know if he shared the maps with anyone else. If there's nothing, I can up them of course for you guys to try. :)
Yeah, I applied a resource template to most of the KnB maps and they seemed to have decent resource distribution at a first glance. I didn't check each map for hours on end; it was maybe 10 minutes or so for each one. With that file I have a list of changes I made.
It doesn't seem that I can upload zip files but I can drop a single map in here to see if you like the idea of what I did.
