This is the Japanese Discussion thread, where several topics concerning this civilization on the ESOC Patch may be discussed. We're looking for feedback on the current state of balance, from the community's standpoint.

japanese are op .because he have toshogu shrine and shrine (nerf toshogu shrine and shrine). nerf Golden Pavilion. he have Daimyo(general)can train units and shipment . but other civ don't have general. they have more shrine20 down to 10shrine. and nerf yumi have high damage can kill cavalry. and they have high Siege Damage. can 2 shipment at one card.

I think an overpowered civilization can win vs everything but they surely can't vs iro / Otto. They have a bad early game, that's why Russian Indian can punish them early. You can consider also, that wall are nerfed so it's really hard counter an all in rush at this point

What about lowering the food income by their shines? Is questionable if they seem te be too OP.

After wall nerf they should be ok.
Maybe reduce ashi speed to 4.

I do not think Japan is even close to OP right now. They are a very strong civ though.

Iroquois and Ottomans were nerfed and don't win Japanese now. I would suggest nerfing ashigaru speed to 4 like others here say and buffing Yabusame significantly to make them viable and give Japanese a proper counter-artillery unit.

Basically this. Japanese aren''t overpowered, but their units are kinda broken.

Don't nerf Ashi speed, as it is the original idea behind the civilization. The patch was made to not destroy the original feature of the civilization.

Maybe nerf the shogun aura, daimyo aura and -5% from golden pavilion boost and the maybe nerf shrine's HP by 200 or 300.

Make 4 flamming arrows in age 4 cost 500 food each time they are sent. Make 14 ashis to 13 ashis, 16 yumis to 14 yumis.

Shogun tokugawa shipment should cost 500 food to be sent.

Japanese industrial has already been nerfed hard.

I agree that the ashi speed is too OP feature and ashi raids are just too annoying. Unfortunately it is original feature and FP team is not gonna remove it, Im sure.

Nerfing ashi's speed is a nice idea since that's an abusable mech but on the other hand, I'd like to see yabusames being nerfed because atm jap can't do much vs artillery.

Ashi speed is untouchable, it's like changing the range of lbows or the area damage of cuirs.
Japanese right now are a pretty balanced civ.

Don''t even mention shitlongbows and ashigarus in the same sentence... Ashigarus still remain decent in age II and op in the later ages.
I''m still not sure do you usually play this game high or are you always just purposefully against most people.

And in fortress they're pretty good indeed, but I'm sure that's the case of many units. Actually musketeers in age3 lose quite some use because of skirms.

Sanctuary resources flow should be slightly lower. The shoguns must have a cost to be sent, about 700 food is something acceptable or decrease the power of his aura.
