Horse Guns or Field in Treaty
Some of my friends I play with constantly are trying to get me to use horse guns instead of field guns in treaty. I primary play British and Russians and as British i only use them till I can start shipping in my rockets. I like using field for the extra population spot they free up and they seem to do the job well enough. Extra pop in my book means there is a better chance i can have an extra unit to help defend the Field gun and extend its life. Thoughts?

Field guns are obviously better, horse guns are just wasting population. They have their uses but in general you're going to want to make platoons of field guns to blow away enemy musks.

Obviously horse guns, not only do they have more damage, they are faster in both limbered and unlimbered modes. They cost 1 extra pop which is negligible considering you can micro them back and forth and have that sweet sweet damage. Now everyone sees how ridiculous the arguments are that i put up with the ear in basement games.

Horse guns are better. They die in 2 culverins shots just like falconets, but do vastly more damage, move faster and have more range.

Exactly, I have to explain why the horse guns are far superior to falconets all the time during basement games.

Horse guns being faster is actually a pretty big deal, it lets you pull out of range of enemy culvs more quickly.

The increased damage does a lot too. with field guns i notice like 1 inf getting blown away and a few surrounding being injured. but with horse cannon 2-3 inf get blown away and then some injured.

Do you also prefer huss over gendarmes for the same reason? No really lol, bad argument.
Re: Horse Guns or Field in Treaty
Horse guns ofc. 1 extra pop for more speed and damage is a good trade.

Looks like I finally got through to frenchman that horse guns should be made in treaty. At Waffle House last night he said it looks like he has to reevaluate his stance based on the evidence in this thread.

I'm officially coming out as pro-horse guns, from now on I will consider anyone who says they are bad to be a troll
