I think Lent is an excellent time to reevaluate priorities given to materialistic items regardless of religious beliefs or not.

Hmm.. maybe this is more of a Midwest, USA practice indoctrinated into us through our geographic proximity to the Bible Belt because I was honestly expecting way more answers. Almost all of my friends and I have at least one thing we are denying ourselves for the six week observation between Ash Wednesday and Easter whether it is big or small.

I briefly considered giving up the #modtheear movement for Lent but I didn't want to let down my supporters.

Re: What Are You Giving Up for Lent?
I am 24 and have yet to have any sort of drug, cig, or alcohol so it's funny hearing people pick that
I think if you do something like not use your phone or computer for a day and spend that day with someone (family, other, family) you can achieve the same thing that is observance does. To Callen's point, this achieves the grounding reset to being in a first world and surrounded by things you own. And you don't have to limit it to 6 weeks or reach 6 weeks to do that. Just my thought on it.

Well I started late but day 3 baby. Couldn't sleep at all the first night; sweat through my sheets: riddled with anxiety. I feel much better now.

i'm not giving up my cereal. or my milk
honestly though i don't see the point in re revaluating priorities. i mean, there's nothing wrong with meat or booze (milk in my case) or whatever it is you're giving up. you shouldn't need a holiday to reevaluate ur life!

You should be careful, some people can die due to withdrawal!
