Interjection Asks What if... #1
Every now and again I'd quite like to propose a simple question to the community, just some food for thought that I find interesting
If the topic generates enough interest I'd also quite like to make a 5-10 minutes discussion video similar to the one I released today (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn3geCtsiik) just summarizing the topic and surrounding issues
Today the question is:
Discuss what would happen if the Portuguese 'Bandeirantes' card (delivers 2 explorers) was moved from the industrial age to the discovery.
I'll also pick a best answer for a hall of fame because why not (300+ words to be considered)

What if the snare mechanic was removed or significantly reduced?

I would assume that this retains all effects of the card to all the extent it is used in the industrial age. Considering this being moved to the discovery age we would have to take into account three things; cards that would have been send anyway, the cons of sending the card and the pros. Lets start off with the current cards to send.
The current first cards to send is either Economic Theory / ATP / 300w. With Economic theory it's pretty much getting all the market ups in one go (with room to get the actual ups as well) This is essentially a 1-vill shipment as you usually have around 10 vills when you send it, and it increases efficiency by 10%. It is however a long term card compared to 300w, so the benefit scales. 300w on the other hand you would build a TP from immediately, instead of chopping for them. You can also build a TP pretty quickly from ATP, whilst having some map control, however it is not as quick as 300w, which means your second shipment will arrive later, and even with a 200w start you will have to chop and wait longer to age.
So if you send the double-explorer card you will not be able to send Economic Theory or 300w. Losing economic theory could lose you a few seconds on your age-up. However with three explorers you will be able to get ANY treasure on the map relatively easily. You can also scout much faster and not have to worry about your opponent stealing treasures as much (Being able to get three treasures at once!). You can also kill your opponents explorer much quicker and probably auto-win discovery age, which is very important if you would like to get a strong colonial Which you will if you can get all those "Aztec Mummy" treasures worth 250c and all similarly-resourced treasures.
If you send this potentially at the end of discovery you can;
- Defeat any other explorers, limiting opponents scout potential relatively early
- Take any treasures at all you need to
- Probably get heaps of wood off the treasures - being able to get TP's without even needing to chop for them.
It's pretty OP.

It would be a much better version of a dog card, which is already viable in some cases. Also, with an early TP, you could perhaps send the explorers + ATP, securing all trading posts easily. Additionally, you'd gain extra tanks auto-upgrading with each age, in age 4 you'd end up with 3*780 HP and 3 Eye of the Assassin abilities.

Trolololol that would be so cool, you could force india to wonder in base every game. Also you could siege any outpost wagon/rax being built into oblivion. Would prob force civs to send like 3 vills forward to FB vs you. Also if you got aTP and sent an explorer upgrade card, you could kill and fb vills. Buh bye russia.
Also buh bye getmany, no TP for you.

Imagine it is on Sonora with 1 or 2 armours that belonged once to El Pollo Guapo, you can have a lot of early XP when killing the guardians + 100% and/or 40% HP bonus for these 3 tanks

Re: Interjection Asks What if... #1
I think you would still ship ATP on maps with a ton of tps just because it's so good, but otherwise shipping 2 explos would be better than eco theory or keeping shipment for age 2 imo, at least on maps with good treasures. You would get a lot of value out of them thanks to treasures during transition, would deny any fb, kill enemy explorer, deny tps, have +2 (strong) units in age 2. But it also depends a lot on the match up, for example it would not be so good vs sioux because you would never be able to kill sioux explorer / sioux would still be able to steal your treasures, but it would be really good against fb civs.
Ah and also, it would make age 1 micro so hard
Questions :
What if shipments came instantly on the field ?
What if you could train military units in age 1 ?
What if you couldn't garrison vils into any building (like in starcraft iirc) ?

What if AoE3 was actually AoE2 mechanically, as in hill advantages, resources drop-off points etc.?

That MIGHT just give me enough of a reason to take out improved buildings from my decks.

Looking at your decks and nothing else I'd probably peg you pr ~15
Re: Interjection Asks What if... #1
What if when units died their carcass remained on the ground and either side could gather the resources from the carcass that it took to make. It'd take like 60 seconds to decay fully.
