Unit power rate
Unit power rate
Yo guys!
I made a very easy formula to calculate unit power rate. I share you so you can calculate power rate of every units in this game:
Its basicly: damage*hitpoints/price^(2)
This power rate formula shows what power you get for your resources.
(dont forget calculate with attack speed in "damage" (dont compare 1,5 rof to 3 direcly))
(for more precise results you need to calculate with villsec instead of price)
For example a muskeeter power rate is: 23*150/100^(2)=0,345 (its 3 ranged rof)
11,5*150/100^(2)=x (its with 1,5 ranged rof, if you wanna comp unit for an 1,5 rof unit)
Please noteice that this formula doesnt contain stats like speed or attack range.
Please notice that this formula doesnt cointan damage resistence however you can calculate it in the hp if you want. (For example a vet skirm has 144/0,7 (ranged)hp)
You need to calculate power rate for different opponents in some case like in pikevsinf pikevscav pike has different rate due the damage difference.
Im lazy to calculate all of the unit rates, but you can yourself with this formula easily.

Re: Unit power rate
Why is price squared? Why don't you differ resources? Do you include fire animations?
Re: Unit power rate
I cant include fire animations ofc. I wrote you need calculate villsec instead of cost for better results.
Square is an important part because of the multiple number of units you can produce.

Re: Unit power rate
to sum up, halbs got the highest power rate equals halbs best unit.
Re: Unit power rate
vet halb vs vet musk lets see:
vet halb got 0,347
vet musk got 0,27 (in melee)
But its with simple cost(not villsec). Plus musks have ranged attacks too + bigger melee resistence (which wasnt calculated either)
How i calculated: 200*25/120^2 = 0,347
180*15/100^2=0,27

Re: Unit power rate
Tbh no offense but this is really useless, it's absolutely irrelevant
If you want to compare units fighting each other, just calculate how many hits they need to kill each other and then with a simple algorithm you can see which unit wins and how hard it wins, it's much more accurate (even though still obviously not perfect)

Re: Unit power rate
if i calculate good musk cost 131 villsec
halb cost: 176 villsec
vet halb power rate is 0,16
vet musk power rate is 0,157 (in melee and the resistence isnt calculated yet)
If i havent miscalculated...:)

Well, this is ofc not something that can show which unit is the best, for the reasons you said but I remember having solved the equation 2 years ago, and the result is still satisfying to know, because it show the power of low cost units.
Re: Unit power rate
This formula contains "how many shoots need to kill each other". You can test it if you dont belive me...:)

No it doesn't contain this, and it doesn't take drop-off and overkill into account, it's absolutely useless

Re: Unit power rate
If you wanted to make this super accurate, you would also have to somehow include multipliers, resistance, speed, range, and ROF.

i like this new and constructive criticism kaiser... oh wait.
Re: Unit power rate
So if I did the calculation right, Renegados vs HI have a score of 2,66...
Renegados good unit confirmed

Re: Unit power rate
So can you explain what this formula does and how you came up with it?
P(a, h, p) = ah/p^2. Are you saying that unit X beats unit Y <=> P(a_X, h_X, p_X) > P(a_Y, h_Y, p_Y)? (assuming no micro and units are standing next to each other)

last time i cryed was because i stood on Lego

Yep it's constructive, I explain why his formula is not relevant. If you want I can even write the real algorithm to compare units fighting each other, much more accurately, even though it's ofc not perfect.

This formula shows if you send x amount of resources into 1 type of unit what power you get. Americans say "bang for buck".

110*80/90^(2) is 1,086 vs hi
Re: Unit power rate
Lets play and calculate some then! Which musket is the best for your resources?
Janissary: 100/0,84 + 25/0,6 = 160,71 vs
235*20/160,71^(2)=0,1819 lets *1000 see results more clear 182
Musketer: 75/0,84 + 25/0,6 = 131 vs
150*23/131^(2)= 0,2010 *1000 see better 201
Sepoy: 90/0,84 + 30/0.6 = 157 vs
Lets just do the same 0,1927 *1000 193
Ashi: We are lacking equal villsec on food, but lets calculate with hunting. 162 vs
Do the same 0,1554 *1000 155
Intresting results. I hope i calculated good.

Re: Unit power rate
I dont get this... how the power calculation takes into account micro (like kiting etc) ?? +1 kaiser, ovi ... Units are totally situational , What does even a high powered army mean?
If u really wanna do some unit X vs unit Y assuming no micro, u can do the hp-damage thingy and iterate it over the number of units with taking into account that when units die, u reduce damage output etc etc...

Forgot ruskets: 100 vs
120 18 = 0,216 * 1000 = 216 Buff russia!

Re: Unit power rate
If you find that euro musketeers are more cost efficient than sepoys it just shows that your formula doesn't work, since sepoys are by far the best musketeer

Re: Unit power rate
I tested 16 rusket vs 10 sepoy. (check "vs" to understand why)
It showed the calculated numbers for me. Ruskets dominate sepoys.

Such test don't really prove much — it was discussed before already
