Unit strength vs cost
Unit strength vs cost
I seem to remember someone made a calculator for unit strength vs cost. Though I can't seem to find it.
Anyone knows something about this?
Much appreciated

Re: Unit strength vs cost
I don't recall of anyone having such a calculator. That dsy guy is using a formula to calculatethat, if that's what you mean, but it's bad.

(Unit attack*Unit hitpoints)*X*100y
X is your PR and y=1 if you are somppu and y=0.001 if you are not somppu

Aha, oke thx.
Probably I remembered wrong.

The formula is what kaiser said is bad. I don't think that's especially bad, that's an approximation that isn't precise enought to be usefull to test the strengh of a unit that exists (balance is more precise I mean). However, if you want to creat a new unit that is approximatly balanced for instance, you could use it.

yeh people tend to forget that the most important variable in mathematical formulas is usually if you are somppu or not.
also, the cost factor doesnt seem to matter in a unit strength vs cost formula. interesting.
Re: Unit strength vs cost
Just play the game, you don't need these formulas. With experience you will understand what works and what doesn't.

Thx, I'll check it out.
And now I know I my memory is still working fine.

Re: Unit strength vs cost
Sepoys are less efficient than musketeers according to this calculator :/

why train time is not considered one of the factors?
Re: Unit strength vs cost
If you calculate with proper numbers they arent.
Musket need 9 shoots to kill a sepoy so sepoy has 207hp (9*23) in that specific scenario. If you use 207 it shows the truth.
However other scenarios simple musk is a bit stronger in ranged comat.

Re: Unit strength vs cost
No that's simply wrong, sepoys are known to be better than regular musks in any situation

Re: Unit strength vs cost
In situations it may be. However in simple ranged combat musks are a bit more cost effective.

Hi,
i just compared 12 normal unupgraded age II musks (which cost 900f, 300g) to 10 (unupgraded) sepoys (which also cost 900f, 300g).
6 Sepoy-Shots kill 1 Musk
9 Musk-Shots kill 1 Sepoy
I assume that both players micro perfectly (so do exactly the amount of shots needed to kill a unit) and both armies shoot at the same time (so all the units left in one round shoot in the next round before eventually getting killed in that round). The result was the following:
12 Musks Vs 10 Sepoys
After Round 1:
11 Musks left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
9 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 6 further shots to be killed
After Round 2:
9 Musks left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed
8 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 4 further shots to be killed
After Round 3:
8 Musks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
7 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 4 further shots to be killed
After Round 4:
7 Musks left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
6 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed
After Round 5:
6 Musks left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
5 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 7 further shots to be killed
After Round 6:
5 Musks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
5 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
After Round 7:
4 Musks left, 1 of them needs 4 further shots to be killed
4 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed
After Round 8:
3 Musks left, all full hp
4 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
After Round 9:
3 Musks left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
3 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 7 further shots to be killed
After Round 10:
2 Musks left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed

After Round 11:
2 Musks left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
3 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
After Round 12:
1 Musks left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed
2 Sepoys left, all full hp
After Round 13:
1 Musks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
2 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 8 further shots to be killed
After Round 14:
1 Musks left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
2 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 7 further shots to be killed
After Round 15:
0 Musks left
2 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 6 further shots to be killed

Richard: If you use the calculator it shows that in musk vs sepoy the sepoy wins. So i dont understand the problem...

Ah ok sorry then, i thought someone was thinking that musks would beat sepoys cost-efficiently. Tbh, i didnt use your calculator yet. Anyways, now i did that example and i ll leave it here.
Re: Unit strength vs cost
Sepoy doesnt beat musk cost efficiently in ranged combat overall, only in musk vs sepoy scenario. Thats only because musks overkill meanwhile sepoys arent.

Hi, i just did my calculations for Russian Musks (Rusks) vs Sepoys. The result is quite impressive so i decided to post it here.
16 Rusks cost 900f, 300g, 10 Sepoys also cost 900f, 300g.
5 Sepoy-Shots kill 1 Rusk
11 Rusk-Shots kill 1 Sepoy
Again I assume that both players micro perfectly (so do exactly the amount of shots needed to kill a unit) and both armies shoot at the same time (so all the units left in one round shoot in the next round before eventually getting killed in that round).
16 Rusks Vs 10 Sepoys
After Round 1:
14 Rusks left, all full hp
9 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 6 further shots to be killed
After Round 2:
13 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
8 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
After Round 3:
11 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
7 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
After Round 4:
10 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
6 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
After Round 5:
8 Rusks left, all full hp
5 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
After Round 6:
7 Rusks left, all full hp
4 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 5 further shots to be killed
After Round 7:
7 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
3 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 9 further shots to be killed
After Round 8:
6 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
3 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
After Round 9:
5 Rusks left, all full hp
2 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 7 further shots to be killed
After Round 10:
5 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
2 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 2 further shots to be killed
After Round 11:
5 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 1 further shots to be killed
1 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 8 further shots to be killed
After Round 12:
4 Rusks left, all full hp
1 Sepoys left, 1 of them needs 3 further shots to be killed
After Round 13:
4 Rusks left, 1 of them needs 4 further shots to be killed
0 Sepoys left
Re: Unit strength vs cost
If you use the calculater it shows that ruskets are the best musket type units in ranged combat...
But yeah its good to hear that calculations have the same results.
