Spring Tournament 2017 Data Spreadsheet
Spring Tournament 2017 Data Spreadsheet
Well, this was supposed to be uploaded some time ago by the alleged authorities known for such actions, but I haven't noticed it anywhere, despite I clearly sent them the finalised version
I gathered all the data from the bracket stage of the Spring Tournament 2017 (played on the ESOC Patch v. 3.1.1.0), including: players, civs used, winner civs, maps, rounds etc. The proof is entirely in the file, but the best highlights are presented in the graphs below:
I highly encourage you to familiarise yourself with this piece of data, with the perspective of being used in further balance discussions I'm unfortunately not up-to-date with (yet...!), tournament settings, map pools and so on.

What if this data hasn't been published earlier due to staunch lobbyist activity withing the ESOC Team by Dutch bankers and Otto lamers?

Nice to see this here. I already saw and was impressed by the data Ryan gathered as well.

See the attached PDF. Thank you for collecting the data. I did use it for analysis. There were a few items misentered that I corrected prior to making the analysis. It also looks at multiple events.

Great analysis!! I always expected that the percentage of mirrors was much higher in later rounds compared to earlier rounds

Why stats only for those players? H2o wasnt even in tournament. Funny that raphas and ryans winrate are almost same but mirrored

You're right volunteer work isnt good enough! Why didn't Ryan just do all the players ever for every tournament.

I think umeu was just curious. No need to overreact

Re: Spring Tournament 2017 Data Spreadsheet
I just did a handful of players that I was interested in and that had a large sampling of games in events. The large sample of games is an important one. Yes, my win rates were much better prior to that last finals! Thanks raphael!

It is indeed a bit sad to see that even on the esoc patch Otto still seems to be encouraged
A decend nerf would do imo. (yes there is some frustration here from being beaten by otto on RE )

I would be interested to hear what thoughts the PDF analysis I posted above stirs.

Dutch very clearly needs to be buffed

ESOC patch is working. Perceived balance improved overall.
Civ and mirrors: I think one cause is that top 3 mirrored civs are seen as clear dominants on some maps. So there is a strong drive to mirror those civs in those cases. Otherwise, the mirror rate isn't that different among most civs. Top 3 mirrored civs are also rather popular and relatively easy to play (in mirror at least).
Civ win rates are not very telling. I cannot see a clear pattern atleast.

Great read and well written. It seems the EP is doing good work to improve civilization variety while maintaining the competitiveness.
Re: Spring Tournament 2017 Data Spreadsheet
The last graphs showing Civilisation Win Rates include mirrors, from what I observed, which shouldn't take place
Other than that, looks fantastic, I'm happy my work somewhat helped with this amazing piece of work

I'll check on that. I feel like I excluded that (I built a view of the data for this purpose that excluded mirrors). And thank you! Between mitoe and yourself we wouldn't have any of these analytics!

The formula was broken, please, familiarise yourself with new, correct piece of data:
