Poll - Hardest civ to play

Any civs macro is honestly easy. Its just a matter of actually practising your builds. Some civs are just harder to wing it, like india, aztec, dutch and probably some others.

I think hard to play is mostly determined by how complex a civ is bo-wise and how badly mistakes are punished, as well as how little the civ relies on ez units to micro (like the musketeer).

I'm surprised Japan has such a small amount of votes. I feel like in the low PR they're quite powerful, but as the skill level increases it's one of the hardest civs to master imo

Hardest civilizations are the ones where you need to control all 3 of your resources and adapt your builds a lot, so probably Japan, Britain, India, Aztec. These civilizations have a high skill cap.

I don't know why people vote for Spain and China, these civilizations are not strong but are not hard to play, you know what you are going to do from the start.

But the whole aim of the game is to beat your opponent, and Doing that with civs like Spain in China is much more difficult. Maybe it's just different question interpretation but I think it takes a much better player to win with spain than something like Aztec or India.

And honestly those civilizations only have a high skill cap mid-late game. Early game is pretty straightfoward.

I've never seen either do well in treaty, ever.

Iroquois have the cow boom, which makes their boom a tad tougher to execute, I guess; moreover, as a native civ, their armies train more slowly — I guess you can call it a nuisance
