Latest news

- Quinn: We want players to get to that strategy in a way that isn't limited by physical skill (reflexes/APM)

That's probably good news for aoe3 lovers. At least I love it, granted you never know for sure with game companies since they might just remove all macro mechanics and make units unmicroable.

Yeah it sounds like a direct dig at the sc2 style of apm rts which I can support. Most fans of the aoe franchise would say aoe3 is the most dumbed down mechanically and I love aoe3. I don't think they can, in good conscience, simplify mechanics more so than in this game so I'm not too worried.

when I read that, I thought it was bad news. To me it reads more aoe2 mass base building economy style rather than aoe3 or sc2 where unit control is a premium.

I think aoe2 is widely considered to be very hard mechanically?

its hard. However mostly becuase things like shiftclick dont work. Pathing is fucked up etc. aoe 2 remastered would be a lot easier even if they were to make the exact same game just with quality of life improvements.

Whenever I play it I'm content if I can keep up with macro against an AI thats bad and not even attacking me, not sure how much shift click would improve that since it just requires a lot of actions to macro.

Do you think at E3 we finally might get to see what it looks like?

They're still hiring for the team, I doubt we will have any concrete info before 2019-2020

AOE2 is as easy as AOE3 once you get used to it....

Lol actually i struggle a lot more when i play AoE3 than when i play AoE2. I guess i'ts just a matter of habit, since i have 1200+ hours on AoE2 and probably less than half of that on AoE3.

play voobly, pathing is much better and shift click works (even though it also does on AOE2HD, just in a different way). also lagless compared to HD

What, does shift-click on voobly work for queuing any action? It certainly doesn't work for anything but "walk" action in HD, which makes it almost completely useless (in addition to being unintuitive to initiate in the first place).

Voobly is same as HD for shift queue.

Once you practice the standard openers, you shouldnt have any problems vs AI. Its pretty much go to age3 as efficient as possible -> make tcs and then you outmacro them

That would be completely unrelated to the point I made there?

one guy commented: So, we see them motion-capturing a horse, a guy in medieval armour, and them visiting medieval ruins. Well, that strongly hints toward the middle ages.

based on some leaked video, now removed on relics req.

I tried to find a mirror but it seems like Relics removes it everywhere :(

It's strange though, was the leaked video not uploaded by Relic?

Its the safest era, even us aoe3 fans should be happy about it I think.
