What does RE patch mean?

Hey I'm new here and I've seen RE patch mentioned a few times but have no idea what it means

This game was created by Ensemble Studios, but they were disbanded somewhere around 2009 and Robot Entertainment took over the game. Robot Entertainment (RE) created a patch (that among other things reduced cost of trading posts from 250 wood to 200 wood) and it is referred to as the RE patch, to distinguish it from fan patches such as the ESOC patch (EP). It is simply the official patch that you play on when you get the game out of the box.
