I happened to be browsing Wikipedia, landed on the Cree chief "Poundmaker". Saw his image and immediately recognized it:
It's pretty unmistakably the inspiration image for the Cree tracker:
Just thought this was pretty cool. Anyone ever find other images that match unit portraits?

you do realise it was the other way around ? this guy tried to recreate the picture of his most favourite aoe unit.
