If this ever happens again, simply alt+f4 and enable online privacy. I have it enabled at all times anyways. Usually when people message me it's just garbage and if it's important people will find other ways to contact me.

My point is that if you can DDOS ESOC by coding a loop that would refresh the front page a ton of times, maybe you could "DDOS" someone off eso by coding a loop that would spam an obscene amount of invites? Doesn't matter if he's not hacking by sending invites. Maybe it doesn't need to be a hack.

Online privacy is shit, you don't even have enough space on the eso friendlist to add everyone, so then people pm/invite you and you never get it. This works when you play aoe once every 3 months yeah, not when you're a bit active. Plus, it doesn't even solve the problem anyway, because this guy is still able to spam regardless of online privacy, as we could just see on ESOCTV.

so just to get some more insight... what exactly happened yesterday? some random dude managed to DoS all of us by simply running a script that invites people over and over again, or was it something else? Did we get logged off, because he logged into our accounts or because the system was overworked with the invites and stuff?
And can we take any measures to prevent that from happening again at least? The online privacy setting seemed to not have any effect at all.

If it's the latter then it's not really a big problem, just a bit troublesome to deal with. Your passwords should still be safe.

Gibson did say that he couldn't log in to his account as if the password were changed, but trying again in a while he was able to log in.

It's nice that passwords are not being compromised. However if it's so easy to DoS a player off username alone that's more annoying. It means I'm going to have to create and play on an account with unidentifiable characters when streaming?

If i recall correctly, once i activated online privacy i had no invites popping up anymore, and i would just get logged off within a couple seconds after logging in each time.
I also think accounts are probably not getting hacked during this process, but as a tech newb I am not entirely sure. As Aiz says, if it's just the DoS then it's only "annoying"
