Streaming has become dangerous?

Post by sirmusket »

Basically there is this guy who can somehow watch streams , and manage to ddos accounts. It happened to Gibson yesterday when he was streaming, on 4 different accounts. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/223306146
And currently happening to Xochiquentzin
And also happened to Butifle when he was casting
No real fix to this , which kind of sucks. I guess people can't stream 100% safe anymore though which is a bit sad

We should run reruns of old streams to confuse the guy.

yea, they had to stop streaming cause it was impossible to start a game as the casters and players kept on being logged out of eso

that guy has to sit in front of his pc all day and night to always get the streamers, pretty weird - especially if he's in the chinese time zone as suspected

Do you log in on-stream? If he can see the number of characters in your password it is already a huge advantage for him—especially if you have entropy unworthy of a duck.

Yeah what he said ^
Knowing the # of characters means they can 'guess' your password easier. All this could be solved if ESO only had a lock-out feature after 3 failed attempts or something. I suggest you use an overlay whenever you login to your accounts.

Well I don't think it has anything to do with entering the passwort on stream as only the streamer might to do that but Jerimuno and I were also kicked from ESO

I find it more likely that eso is being hacked in the sense that someone can figure out ip adresses rather than that someone hacked the pssswords.

I was thinking, what if this guy sits in qs and autocancels all games while registering ip adresses, and then does a DoS attack.

Yeah I thought that sending an invite or a whisper may log the IP. The other option is that the bot floods invites etc. that still get sent and that crashes the game. Either way it seems difficult to stop unless we setup a private server for the games. It would be really sad to have to do that over one bad apple.

This reminds me of an old DM player who I used to hang out with until I found out he was stealing accounts and he didn't tell me how to do it exactly but he did tell me a few key things he did/used. He was known as redacted in the DM community and was pretty good at it.

1. redacted

2. I would see him online with the account he said he was going to steal so I know he was bs'ing me so I knew not to ever piss of that guy lol

I messaged Ryz0n about this years ago when I found but so I have no idea if he patched up the security there or not.

Once we find the person responsible I think it's safe to say a public execution is in order.
