Getting Images out of the game files

Hi everyone,

Looking for some help. As most of you know, I use the image below as my avatar on Discord, AOE & YouTube. I basically screenshoted it out of the game though.

I was wondering if there was a way to pull a higher res copy out of the game that I could use instead.

Any help would be nice :)

Where in the game files did you find the image @Gendarme? I'm curious and couldn't find it myself.

They are compressed into a BAR-file. You need to extract the contents of the BAR-file, and then convert the files as well because they are in XMB format. The programs you need for this are ArchiveViewer and FileConverter, which are included in AoE3Ed which you can download here.

These avatars are in the /art/ folder.

How did you get the images out of the XMB files? I get XML files when I convert the XMBs

You chose the wrong file. The images are DDT files. The avatars are located in /Art/ui/eso/avatars.
