Getting ddosd out of a 1v1

Hi,
so i was playing 1v1 earlier today against [redacted], and the very moment i was about to right click his towncenter with my fierce grenadiers and pikemen, i lost my connection to the internet.
Now my question is, are u actually serious? do i have to play this 11 year old game with a vpn because sad people care so much about their PR that they ddos people who they are about to lose to?
