Supremacy Cup Conclusion & Feedback Thread

Post by Cometk »

With the end of the finals today concludes the first ESOC Weekend Tour! Congratulations to @lordraphael for winning 1st place in the Supremacy Cup and taking home a juicy $80. Our champion will also receive a snazzy forum badge to prove his A-list status and, as scheduling will allow, an interview with him will take place on this week's Fantastic Friday Showdown. If you have any burning questions for the winner, please post them in this thread! Congratulations is also due to the world's best runner-up @Mitoe who receives $40 for his second place finish as well as to @princeofkabul and @dicktator_ who each bank $15 for reaching the semi-finals.

With that out of the way, I'd also like to hear how y'all think we could improve the ESOC Weekend Tours. I saw useful feedback in the twich chat during the event so I think it would be even more productive to give it a spotlight on the forums. Do you think the RO16 have been a Best-of-3? Should we have had more streams to get as many games casted as possible? Should the tournament be held over 2 days instead of just 1? Any suggestions, please discuss 'em here.

The next Weekend Tour is in the works! Just like the first event, the format and sign-ups will be posted a week before the tournament, so stay tuned!

Ideally it would be a 2 day event starting on Saturday and ending with the semis and the finals on Sunday.

BO1 is fun to watch because anything can happen but I see the motivation behind changing it to BO3.

Regardless, I thought it was a great event and a lot of fun to watch. Thanks to all who organized.

I think BO1 is fine, with the intention to finish it within 1 day. Provides some flexibility if there are delays.

I really liked this format. Kinda has that march madness/fifa world cup knockout stage feel where upsets happen which can causes hype. Hope it continues this way

Bo1 is good cause it's more likely to allow for upsets, as we saw

i think bo1 is great. should be over 2 days as some have suggest already. start to ro8 on day 1. Semis and Finals on day 2. However, if things line up so that everything can finish in 1 day, then that should be considered too, on the spot.

imo round of 16 should be bo1, not bo3. And even ro8 could be bo1 imo.

I like the BO1 in RO16. It's a weekend tourney, things should be unpredictable and in the end it isn't the end of the world if a good player is knocked out due to taking a bad mu. Also leads to great viewing and can encourage players to use unique and maybe cheesey strategies that could surprise a better opponent and result in a win. I'd try and keep the tourney within 1 day, as you'll have more people signing up and committing to play without the risk of having to plan for a 2nd day.

It was a great event!
But in queue casted games slow down the progress of tourney.
I won a game and then i had to wait Mitoe more than 2hours : to know his opponent, he was himself waiting a planned streamed game , and then he casted an other game instead of playing his match.
Players should not cast games next time, and maybe we need multiple streams, and not 5 streamed matchs shedule in queue, because we inevitably fall behind..

I agree, I don't think you can really plan to cast specific matches during a short event like this, you just have to cast whatever becomes available.

As for me casting... Problem was that no one seemed to be available to cast, really. In the future we should look at the casters' availabilities first, then choose a date based on that.

Sorry for making you wait so long, by the way :(

The seeding was wrong.
Kaiser and Me could have casted. (but no one asked for it only if Kaiser wants to Cocast)
The organization of the stream was terrible.

The rest was fine. I like bo1 but like the higher player pick first maybe or there is a veto.

What seeding method would your propose? Using ESOC ELO or JP ELO?

The seeding was just wrong like that for me it was huge difference. I don't want to go in the detail because the admins know what I mean.

I am asking because we want to improve the tournament. That means besides pointing out what's bad, it's necessary to explain how to improve things. That's why I am asking how the seeding can be improved. Based on what should the seeding be done?

They to stupid to seed and check what's going on like every tournament...
Jerimuno got auto seeded instead of manual seeding, and hence he got placed behind the manual seeds.
