Do you not realise we don't do witch hunts on this forum? You have been on esoc long enough to know the rules now...

Unless it's someone the ESOC team doesn't like such as SirMusket

Unless it's a known cheater, yes.
Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
That is absolute nonsense. Your exceptions for allowing this are completely arbitrary (not the garja variety of arbitrary). There are tons of known cheaters you've protected.edeholland wrote:[Armag] diarouga wrote:edeholland wrote:Do you not realise we don't do witch hunts on this forum? Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
Yes, we have redacted threads about known cheaters when it's just an echo chamber of hate, like the 10 threads made about SirMusket.
It it were up to me, I would allow all cheating accusations but in a private forum, like SCC.

Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
Well, this nonsensical rule about "known cheaters" came into existence only after Ryan posted in one of the accusation threads agreeing to the OP. Till now there is no proper definition of "known cheater", as to who is a "known cheater"? or who decides that this is a cheater and who makes him "known"? and "known" to who?

Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
What do you think about having a way to privately give cheater evidence where only the staff can see it? @Ashvin
Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
Well since the musket topic I thought posting was okay with proof

Yea the issue is the ESOC double standard, sometimes it's fine to break the rules if the staff is fine with it.

Well, your wish has been granted, @Mitoe checked the ladders of the guy you posted about, and @EAGLEMUT banned him from our ladders/ESOC ELO.
We are now discussing how we are going to fix this for the future, because we are in a weird spot right now (or as Zoom calls it, a non-Garja-arbitrary spot).

Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
Once I was accused of mh by a noob (r4go), just bc I destroyer him. I was quite happy it was redacted. Fact is that everyone can accuse everyone. You can even build solide wrong proof with photoshop.
Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
@edeholland
If we see it at the ground level, the reason why ESOC doesn't want regular users to not to post accusations is that if the person in question comes here and starts a drama it becomes harder for mods to control it. I understand it. But the main reason why users post such stuff is that they want to inform other people to not to play vs them and ruin their experience. I understand this as well.
You can put the cheater in the blacklist if only staff sees it, but what about people out there who want to avoid cheaters? Posting in private in not gonna give others any gain.
So my solution to it is, make a cheater accusation form, the results of this form go to some of the volunteers (not the staff because they already take heat for literally everything, and also for fairness in judgment). They pass their judgment within a week of posting. If the results are positive a locked thread can be made with the evidence and its explanation. If someone thinks the accusation is false or their name is up there and they want it removed, forward them to SCC where the comm team together with the aforementioned volunteers reconsider all the proofs, consider the explanation of the accused and come to a conclusion.

I think the problem is we don't redact it when the cheater is known to us, not to the community.

Afaik it was fine to post about cheaters if you had the proof (screenshots, Rec games, eso comm link, etc). What happened now?

Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
The real question is why you spend an hour and half trying to shame a cheater. Just move on with your life?
Re: Because I just wasted an hour and half...
Well if that was played on RE I don't see where's the surprise.

He played a game on Siberia for an hour and a half before the cheater won. Which is why the whole game was a waste of time.
