new PR calculating formula
new PR calculating formula
Many people have complained that looking at someone's PR is not an accurate way to judge his skill level.
I'm here to present you a new, balanced way to calculate pr, its called VPR and here is how you can calculate it:

Re: new PR calculating formula
That suggestion comes closer, but is still based on a flawed initial PR calculation and assumes the 50% win/loss. This isnt SC2, the system that matches you here doesnt do as well. And it doesnt work well for higher PRs which are closer to the max, so there would need to be a different multiple from a certain PR.
But if you got someone cheating, abusing certain imbalances of the game, a low HC level but not per se bad decks, only plays the nr1 civ, etc, he could get to pr38 with a 60% winratio or better quite easily. Would that make his 'real PR' then 120% of 38 = 46 ^^? No, in fact it should be even lower
ELO is a better measurement overall, just give it some time since the ESOC one is still relatively new, but does exclude cheaters unlike the normal ELO. ESOC ELO still needs to fix some things imo, such as making only the name in the result list bold and NOT everyone, so it is easier to recognize the players name you are getting the stats from, adding a graph perhaps, filtering on civ, etc.

Re: new PR calculating formula
I thought the real PR considers the civ you play with and the homecity level and the opponent's PR. I think this is a very basic calculation. IDK I'd still prefer the current system, more if the tier system of the civs is updated by MS.

Time to bash noobs all day to gain Vane-PR
Pay more attention to detail.

Re: new PR calculating formula
why do you need a new PR system? for accurate betting?
if you want to make a grandmaster only tournament (like in chess) the elo-rating should be enough
i think the current system is good enough to make a quick skill-judgement and find a good game.
my personal PR-system
<serg - no comment
serg - knows the basics
ms - sometimes ok
2nd/1st lt - usually good
>1st lt - everything possible, expect a high level player (rank decay)

Re: new PR calculating formula
I'll donate $50 to ESOC if they use the VPR formula to calculate the cut off for official tournaments

And you multiply it by 2 if you play brits because brit sucks
Re: new PR calculating formula
I suggest the vane formula to be used instead of EP 1v1 elo for the future tournament seedings.

Re: new PR calculating formula
Not to intrude on an otherwise excellent thread; is there a post somewhere on the forums explaining how the RE PR-system work? It seems to involve the HC-level, the win % of the civ and the concurrent PR of the players, but I've never looked it up before now. Any clues?
The exact formula, if available, would be appreciated. I've tried looking at jpladder, but it's down atm. :/

The only details I've ever seen on that were posted on agecommunity by some ES employee.oxaloacetate wrote:Not to intrude on an otherwise excellent thread; is there a post somewhere on the forums explaining how the RE PR-system work?
