Is it possible to get a non steam version of the game? I prefer to play directly from my PC rather than have to be online with steam.
Thanks

Re: Steam
You don't have to be online with steam while you play.
But you can buy it on a normal CD as well i think.

When using the Steam version, the only time you need to be online is when you're downloading the game. Once it's on your PC you can play it offline.
If you are still opposed to using Steam, you can find a hard copy of the game on Amazon and download it the old-fashioned way.

Re: Steam
In order to make launching the game easier and not have to deal with Steam interface or have Steam open at all, you may create your own non-Steam shortcut. Here's how you can do that:
1. Navigate to your Steam game library.
2. Right-click on the AoE3 game and choose Properties.
3. Select the "LOCAL FILES" tab and press the "BROWSE LOCAL FILES..." button.
4. In the folder which should now have opened, locate file named "age3y.exe" and create a shortcut to it.
Launching through this shortcut will then be effectively the same as if you had a non-Steam game.
