Why do you play Age of Empires 3?

Ive tried many other rts's but none feel like aoe3.. I dont know why but its untouchable for me.

I'm very interested in history and competitive play (I know aoe3 isn't that competitive anymore but still more than other games which focus on history).

Haha ye now i think of it, sc2 is full of bullshit. Stealth units raping shit out of ur expansion, right click death balls etc.

I like it because it somehow feels more productive then many other games I played. I feel like it's more of a mental exercise then most other games while still being somewhat fun.

Nostalgia just got me back to this game. I had stopped playing it shortly before TAD came up. I was outraged at the lack of balance by then. Iroquois and Germany were ridiculously OP. It's still far from perfect, but I don't feel it's as bad as it was before (WW's still give me nightmares though

).

Despite the unbalance and the lack of historical accuracy, I Iike the setting a lot. Playability is also ok, As a noob, you don't need much to learn the game, and yet a very nice learning curve that keeps you motivated.

I play because I'm good at it, and that makes it hard to stop. I enjoy rts games a lot and get a lot of satisfaction out of a tough win. I especially get a lot of pleasure from microing to earn a win. I also play for the feeling of a high pressure tournament game. It's quite a rare feeling. Also my brother got me back in the game and its a lot more fun when we're are active on the same game
