Just use the numpad like I do, no need to stretch your hand

I once wanted to try out changing the hotkeys on sc2 to alt 1-9 instead of control 1-9. I accidentally closed the game three times before I realised that wasnt going to work out.

I use Alt+'' to "Find all of selected type". I sometimes miss and Alt+Tab from game, but it doesn''t happen so often, I''ll keep on doing it

Cycle for proper xb/pike, dont get caught with 10xb and no pike. And yes, to balance rax with not enough res.deleted_user wrote:iamsoldier wrote:Ya but ur fingers are always on ctrl anyway. And no, ctrl-(letter) does not focus. I use it to cycle thru upgraded tps, as well as finding rare buildings like ars, church, and doing xb/pike builds to cycle rax. Also cycling docks with schooners
Why cycle? Dont you have control group for rax to queue at the same time and dont you have a "select all docks" hotkey to queue boats at same time? Or is cycling for when you have one queued and not in the other, and not enough res to queue all.
I havent thought of select all docks or tps, that may be useful..

use your mouse? o_o

using ctrl + the hotkey to select all buildings is an easy method. With the warships it's just taht if you select a caravel and then "all unit type" it will only select all caravels, not including frigates etc.. and cycling is really easy also if you want to make different type of units.

Nah mouse at the edges to move screen a little is just inconvenient. Either click minimap or awsd keys, so my mouse is always where i need it

This isn't true for everybody, I tried wasd and I'm just way slower' On the other hand your fingers on the left hand are always where they need to be aswell on the control groups and ready to queue units. Also do you guys also have a key "?" left to the key 1? I used that to cycle heroes, quite handy when you have 2 heroes or want to ungroup the hero from the muskets to start scouting instead of soaking up dmg.

1-3 Army
4 TC
5-6 production
9 firepit or random other unit of interest
occasionly ill use 7 for art foundary if im feeling in a good mood
For most civs you don't really need more than 3 army groups. Sometimes I feel like I could use an extra one with spain though (for the falcs) but I just control them manually atm.

Just take a red pen and draw the ? key next to your 1 key, there you go!

Small thread hijack, is there a way to have a unit in more than one control group? Example: key 1 - 15 skirm key 2 - 20 muskets key 3 - the same 15 skirm and 20 muskets
This is something useful i used in rome total war and havent been able to use in this game.

But you can have hotkeys for things like a hero or all warships, and still group the hero and warships somewhere else. Or having all warships on ctrl F2 and having your 2 monitors on 8, use ctrl f2 to move all warships and then retask the monitors on killing artillery or buildings with the group 8. You could group musk on 2 and huss on 3 and having a key to move all army, but I don't think that's a good idea.
