They are worth like 20 times as much as Blizzard and Blizzard is specifically a game company whereas MS made the by far biggest desktop OS and currently has a mobile OS war to win. Blaming MS management for not pursuing opportunities in the relatively tiny RTS market is indeed nothing short of laughable.
Then the obvious managerial decision should be to sell the franchise. They should have learned something from the Nokia mess. They should have just held a meeting and said the obvious: "Hey guys, were not in the gaming business here, right? We have asscrack lint ideas about what we should do with a gaming franchise, right? Oook, lets make a buck at least by selling it."
The return would be so tiny that it wouldnt even pay for the meeting... Dealing with the AoE franchise to microsoft is like me dealing with an old piece of clothing by selling it on the internet. Its not even worth my time trying. I also doubt they even got an offer worth considering. The franchise cant possibly be worth much.

thats what Im saying, its more okay to call people dumbasses here.
Gs, I will try to find the source for that blizzard offer.
Or maybe they don't have aoe as a priority now, but they wanna save it for the future. If I were MS I wouldn't just sell one of the most successful franchises in the segment to my direct competitor (Blizzard).
Anarchists wouldnt support capitalism, true anarchists are socialists and fascincog hates socialists. Fasincog will have to suffice even though its not totally accurate
Is it possible though, that they tried to use aoeo to link it to their windows phones in the future? It seemed like the right type of game for that. The 'ugly' graphics, the farmville-like gameplay with crafting and stuff. It doesn't sound like the weirdest idea, given the agenda of windows. That's maybe why it sucked: It was made to promote windows phones, not to actually be a good game. And then later on they tried with this castle siege game (which I must admit, I haven't even bothered checking out).
The aoe2 remake stuff shows that microsoft must be aware of the potential of the series. What other game could sell as "the same game without actually improved graphics, but you can put it in 1080 resolution now which you could already do with a mod" than age of empires?

I hope they realize the potential of the series and start remaking the whole thing, from the beginning, I wanted it to happen more than a new AoE4.

I dont want to make them an aoe4 yet because everybody will abandon aoe3 and I cannot afford a new gaming computer

RTS games generally dont need to be that heavy though.
Hell, aoe3 still has pretty good graphics imo. Thats amazing for a game released in 2005. I was too young to comprehend it, but aoe3 graphics must have been top notch back then.

Exactly, top notch graphics = need gaming computer. And I have a laptop, its not like I can buy more RAM or something and add it
