Deleting smaller wallpieces

Post by rangerxx »

As i have noticed, many of the verry high level players do delete the smaller wallpieces before the wall is being built in order to safe wood. Actually it seems that these smaller wallpieces are not needed but when I delete them there is often holes in the wall where the enemy just can walk true. I have also seen some of the high level players running into this problem and being punished for deleteing these wallpieces by stil being raided cause the enemy kav could just walk in. Is there any trick how to build the wall and delete these wallpieces so that there are no holes in the wall?

A few screenshots that show the problem:

Bad Wall:

Good Wall:

Any advice will be appreciated!

Jesus I can barely cope with making a normal wall by itself. There must be some trick.

Make two 'long walls' (the one which can be made into a gate) a time, but make sure to make them as short as possible.

Cometk made a video on this if my description wasn't clear enough

make the biggest segment as small as it can possibly be. if you try to stretch the walls as large as can possible, they''ll have holes in them. hope that makes sense

shitty video bramboy mentioned that may help to clarify

there's an article on armag forums. diarouga showed it to me

basically you use shift clicking and make sure that wall segments don't go to full length when you place the wall. it's super easy to understand once you've figured it out

then you use the "select all units of same type" hotkey to select all the posts and then you delete them

50% cheaper walls!

Well I wrote a guide in french, won't traduce everything:

3 differents walls,
1st 45w, very small
2nd 45w, normal
3rd 45w, big wall

When we delete the wall, we see that there are some walls in the 2nd and 3rd wall.
So actually the rule is "you want the smaller wall possible and all segments should have the same size" and then delete.

To delete, you should use this hotkey:

Just select a pilar, press with hotkey and delete every pilars.

The way to do it is make it long enough to make two gates, then make it as short as possible to still make two gates then place it. Or you can do one gate as small as possible to do small areas. This does save wood but that's not why I do it. It fucks with splash effect of mortars, canon and even troop siege. It causes a break in splash continuity because there jsactually a tiny break on the wall

Why do you always make two-five posts rather than just one? You know there is an edit option right?
