Empires Apart
What do you think about Empires Apart? I've been recently watching their stream and it doesn't look bad but I don't know if it will be a success or not.

Empires Apart
I saw it a couple days ago' I like the idea of it. Also, that graphic design is popular right now for some reason lol.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.

Ah finally.
As I said, RTS games of the future will be community hosted and not done by huge studios with lots of money.
Can't wait to try this one.
Similarly, 0 AD has redone their pathfinder recently. ') ' )

Wow, looks cool. I just hope they finish the game and that they get a large enough community to succeed.

Re: Empires Apart
I like the art style. I'd just add a little bit more textures to the ground.

Re: Empires Apart
Looks like RuneScape the RTS version.
Also, why play any other RTS other than Age of Empires (and AOM)?

Re: Empires Apart
This looks like an aoe2/aoeO remake. Might be interesting to those communities, but I personally find those style of RTS games too slow to be exciting.
Dunno why people are bothered by the textures though. It's still in alpha, I'm sure higher-res models will be there later, it's not really a priority for a small dev team compared to game mechanics.

Yay I saw this project probably like 5 months back or so, will keep an eye on it. and aoeo to slow to be exciting? aoe3 is the game that is slow, aoeo was faster than aoe3 and I dunno about aoe2 as I never played that competitively.

Re: Empires Apart
I am really hopeful for this game, but I think they have a lot of work to do to get it AOE2 level of fun and play ability. That is one of the down sides of such a small development team, there is just so much work that has to be done that it could becomes a lifelong pursuit. Then there is the marketing etc... to get it out to people.
I wish they would take some aspects of AOE3 into consideration like allied natives some kind of XP resource trade system and more units per civ.
I think it is missing some things like hunts, age ups? (maybe this is ok for fast games like SC2)
I like that the units will have more abilities like the cav charge and civs will be completely unique
Im good with the graphics if the play is smooth and fun.
I would really like to see Microsoft build a castle game using the AOE3 engine and game features. I really like the realistic skins and dynamic unit counters and resource gatherings. Just the time line of AOE3 does not appeal to a large fan base.
