Yeah but you need like a 5:1 ratio of musks:lb to win vs pure musk., so ery few lb. However, when there are no musks involved lb rape both skirms and goons.

Longbowmen are awesome, albeit a little unreliable and lackluster against heavy infantry. They are nothing like Strelets.

Longbows dont counter HI that well but dont really lose to cav either and win vs other skirm types. So a strong unit.

Lbs are polyvalent, just like xbows are on nilla. They still lose vs cav, they still beat heavy infantry, but not by that much. They have a better attack than other RI units, but smaller multipliers, which make them beat other RI but be less efficient vs HI. They still have the same multiplier vs RC (*1.5) as other RI, but with better attack, so they basically rape those. So they are a good unit overall, even tho they can't hit and run, which might be their biggest drawback. Their incredible range compensates a lot for that
Maces have twice the ROF of strelets, making them much better, even tho hit and running without wasting shots becomes harder in the same time

I hate making lb because if they aren't standing still they just get raped. I'm pretty confident that moving lb is counter productive in just about every situation.

Macehualtins are not much better than Strelets at all, if better in the first place. You must lack experience with at least one of the two to make that claim. Mace are much better at killing anticav fast because higher DPS, but if you don't care about killing the anticav fast then the strelets are much better.

Maces don't suck. They're a nice colonial unit, but do get outranged by skirms too hard to be good in fortress. Fortunately ERK destroy everything in the game.
