CANNONS NEED A BUFF
Dude... a cannonball to the face? still standing? with 2/3 HP? really? Um.... no much? Seriously any canon including culverin should basically be able to one shot any regular unit.
but also canon should be able to switch bombard modes (grape shot vs building/heated shot)
-ability to capture guns
-they should also not be able to target any single unit and should miss a lot
-these are the type of real developments esoc patchers should be working on not silly balancing but game improving just my opinionXD

If cannons could one shot any unit they would be absurdly powerful. How could you attack someone if they defended with several cannons that destroy everything

well they miss a lot for one they would be inaccurate. then also their ROF should be a bit slower, and because you attack with an army that is big enough to take their guns or you will have them of your own. I didn't necessarily say increased AOE... killing for sure the first unit severely wounding the next two behind it is probably good.

cannons don't need any more power, but I like the idea of accuracy, especially with ranged fire in general. but the closer the unit is the better accuracy. I would like to see that as a function in any future installments of AOE

In the data files there is an accuracy code. I think it's dumb that units in AoE3 have 100% accuracy (except for xbows, which sometimes bug out and miss, but that was not intentional on the part of the devs). It means that micro is way less important than it is in say, AoE2. Imo, being able to dodge ranged attacks by splitting units, etc. is much more fun than just having units fire volleys at one another. And if units are going to have 1.0 accuracy, they should at least have their attack decrease as the range increases (e.g. a musket should inflict ha'f damage at double the distance).
Having units deal consistent damage no matter the distance or micro skill of the players makes the game much more civ and unit based than skill based. There is a reason that AoE2 is more balanced than AoE3 - while it might be difficult, good micro can put a shitty civ like Turkey on the level of an OP civ like the Huns.

If you want cannons to be like they were on real life, they would also need to have a much slower rate of fire and much slower movement.... Cannons are fine imo

I like the idea of units doing less damage at a longer range, but inaccuracy for cannons would be complete bullshit. Just think of a spain mirror or otto mirror, they both have 2 falcs and if they both shoot at each other's falcs and one of the falcs misses, its instant gg for the stupidest reason

For competitive plat u want to eliminate all random factors imo. And that's why the patch is made to provide more competitive play. While things like accuracy and the cannon stuff can be real fun in offline games or games just for fun they would ruin competitive play imo

Units with splash damage can also damage buildings such as walls if they are killing a unit that is standing up against it.
