I used to play standard hotkeys, but I've experimented with various configurations. Most recently, I have my control groups set to the bottom and middle row letters: x, c, v, b, s, d, f, g. Then some of the hotkeys I swapped with the default layout for control groups
T= TC,
U = villager,
1 = mill,
2 = plantation,
3 = TP,
4 = outpost/castle,
5 = dock,
6 = market,
7 = build TC,
Y = livestock pen,
Q = barracks/war academy/war hut/blockhouse,
w = nobles hut,
a = stable/corral,
caps lock = wall,
r = arsenal (fishing boat with dock selected),
f = fort/fire pit,
e = house/village/shrine,
i=church/monastery,
o=saloon,
m = factory,
k = bank.
z = attack move.
shift+space = select all of selected unit type.
And I don't know what hotkeys I like for military production, but I'm not pro enough to care just yet. I could probably even configure my current lay out to be more practical as it is. Also it's amazing how many hotkeys you can customize in this game. It's probably one of the most under appreciated features.
