AOE3 support?

This game needs a patch really badly I think. It's sad the tournament admins had to ban Iroq and ottos just because their early game is way to strong! It seems that British have too much of a lame water game and no civ can beat it. Ports need a buff to become more viable along with a few other civs.

If Microsoft refuses to patch the game they should at least make the fanpatch offical and just put us all on there. I understand there are legal issues but I'm sure there are ways around that! I just started playing again and I remember it was the unbalance that made me quit in the first place.

In Microsoft opinion, this game is dead...
They won t sell more games if they balance the civilisations, so they won t repatch it.

Idk if they call(ed) it dead. The last patch came out in 2010: http://www.agecommunity.com/gameUpdates_yp.aspx and by then, the game wasn't really dead. I just think it costs more money then they will earn afterwards.

The problem with a future fan patch is the possibility of a split community. Where are you going to find people to play test and / or come up with good balance changes? Fan patch is nice and all but without a LOT of people looking forward to playing on it, is it really such a good thing?

FP would only be good if it were adopted in a wide-spread manner, don't you think?

I'm curious to hear people's thoughts on this.

I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

When a new patch comes out the download would start when you would try to login. I was just saying if a fanpatch could do exactly that.

It's very unlikely Microsoft will make another official patch, but we do need a new patch for the reasons you mentioned in your OP and more importantly because we need a good rated map pool. Looks like a community made patch is the only option and while we do have the means to make this happen, the success of this website and future events will tell us if it's a viable option. It's looking good though, the community is growing and we are getting a lot of good content out.
