I think you can download the game and play against AI or do the campaign to test it out out first. To play online you'd have to buy it.

If you have decent mechanics sc2 is a great game
The only sad thing about it imo is that cheesy strats are just too strong, like some guys are master with 60 APM doing the same lame strat again and again.
Photon rush should really be nerfed, and overall toss shouldn't have the option to win a game on a BO. Many players do a DT drop or an oracle opening, and you can just win the game with that strat while it's a macro build.
As terran vs toss you have to hold super hard, and even when you hold, you're often behind, such a joke.

3 races -> 3!= 6 MUs
14 civs -> 14 choose 2. [14+(2-1)]!/2!(14-1)!= 105 MUs

Knowing a matchup could also mean knowing both sides of it with a neutral point of view since protoss vs zerg and zerg vs protoss is considered to be the same matchup, not two seperate ones. But you're right it includes knowledge from both perspectives where a mirror doesn't include that.

Plenty of games during prime EU time, at least for me.
