I think you're somewhat wrong; the main difference is the behaviour now being broadcast. The behaviour, however, is absolutely deplorably pathetic indeed.spadel wrote:It is a great achievement that there is still such an active community in a game which is regarded as dead since about 7 or 8 years now. I would have never expected that a couple years ago and I guess it's obvious that we have to give credits to all the people who actually contribute something to the community.
.. BUT (!!!) having said that, this topic hasn't covered the main problem for this toxic community at all in my opinion.. As much as I'm sorry for Garja, he is basically the only top player I know that has seriously been bullied so far. It is bad of course, but being in the centre of attention, especially in the internet, can always result in a shitstorm rather quickly, as we have seen now.
However, what hasn't been discussed at all so far.. where do you guys think that toxic in this community comes from? .. there may be many reasons but the one thing that comes to my mind immediately is how the current top players behave today, especially when they lose games. I can count the 33+ players, who can actually lose games without flaming or complaining about how shitty RE patch is and how much shittier EP patch is on one hand. This has been different at agesanctuary times.. very different! And what exactly is the problem about it? By streaming all those games were top players hate at everything and everyone when they lose (even in tournament games!!!! there is such a bad sportsmanship by some people this tourney, its disgusting), this behavior seems to be adopted by many lower players and as they become better they end up acting the same way, aswell. Losing games can be emotional and if you cant deal with it and moreover if you see even the best players not caring about sportsmanship neither, you have less incentive to act differently. It's not even about sportsmanship when losing games only, but more about respect for eachother in general. I could name easily like ten players who have developed to 33+ within the last year turning from respectful people to hating and disrespectful tards.
.. so what I'm basically trying to say. If you want to stop the community from becoming toxic, then especially those, who are in the centre of attention in this community, you should maybe start to reflect how your behavior may be perceived by those who look up to you.

still trying to take potshots?
the thread is about trying to make the comm less toxic, if you keep making this kind of posts people eventually will stop caring about any posts u make. just forget it and move on as others try to, buddy.
Everybody loves Garja!iwillspankyou wrote:28 endorses my message thus far - GUESS ALOT OF PPL LIKE GARJA after all
Warno wrote:I am new to the community but noticed a bit of it over the past few months - usually flaming in general stems from immaturity and jealousy so it's hard for me to get angry with it. Usually just makes me feel bad for the person.
When I found that this game was still alive after a decade I was elated and it boggles my mind that people would say anything negative about people trying to improve it/keep it from dying.
The main problem with the criticism that I can see is that there are no solutions, criticizing just for the sake of doing it without offering an alternative is not constructive:
- You don't like a map? Ok what can be done to improve it... Have you tried to develop some maps? Appreciate the effort and try to improve upon it.
- You don't like a balance change? Offer alternative nerf or buff solutions and start a conversation.
Lastly, the criticism of Interjection casting is the most insane thing I have read - he is by far the best caster in the community. He and Zuta casting some old tournament games brought me back to this game. If anyone follows sports/competitions you would know the best casting duo is a good play by play guy and a former pro. One gives summary of the action while the other offers insight.

dicktator_ wrote:Seems like everything that needs to be said in this thread has already been said. There is a problem of overwhelming negativity in the community. People should appreciate those that contribute maps/casted games/etc to the community and should offer constructive criticism rather than just complaining. Meanwhile, a lot of people (myself included) need to work on our attitudes when losing. It's collectively gotten worse over the past year or so and it needs to stop, and people who repeatedly flame/disrespect opponents should be called on it.
