I think it depends on what playstlye you prefer. There were many good team players over the years. I think the best was Aklak. A lot of his builds are still viable and used as of today. StarSky used to play more 1v1 but wasn't that bad at team games as well. And in the early days Ruthless__ was pretty good at team games too.

no idea who Ruthless is, but being top when the game comes out isnt same as being top for a longer period, consistently. Starsky was very good, though i think more 1/1 top than team top. Aklak was very good too, though idk about best. His Brit and German were really nice, but dont remember many other civs. Idk what build you refer to. I think i know this ' rush bo" some people refer to as his BO. Idk though, if you look back over the years it can always be someone's bo.. to me its rather logical that if you want to rush with a lot of units out you age with 500f not the tower as brit. Also if you know that food gathers faster, you ship 700g first. Furthermore, I have taken this one or two steps further by shipping 700f after 700g and then 600g again. Does that make it my bo? idk.. just logical card order, dont consider it that specific of a strat per se.

I have actually some replay Aklak plays french which he is quite good as well. Well I do get your point but I think the whole strat thing is: Whoever had the basic idea gets the reward of naming the strat after. Everything more are just improvements.There is always something you can make better. As well Flooky did some nice builds (mainly in 1v1) where he semi ff while sea. But imo the whole question is just wrong. How can a team player be the best? I mean in the end its still a team effort and I don't think (as an example) aklak can win with 2 1.lts vs you, erik and prince.

Kumruke used to be the top team player when Nagayumi was the best 1v1 player. But not much is known about this player, I've only seen one VOD with a 1v1.

Blackstar_OP/Nevur when he was in top shape. Then Snowww.

Tibia also strong team player. jsimons, wascar, knuschelbar (?).

From older players: Samwise, also the Starsky/NaturePhoenix duo apparently was really OP with Brits in teams. I don't know mrcheese.

Veni was probably the best team games streamer.

Aklak was probably the weirdest team player, probably not even Aizamk would play his team strats. I'm sure I forgot to mention a lot of great team players. These are just a few that came to mind.

Please, stop being jealous of poor J, Tibia and Wascar. You must learn to overcome the French!

Dolan, Aklak had good raiding yes. Though uhlans are too good vs vills ive always said that. I dont remember that game you talk about, what i do know is that a lot of people these days lack the apm and/or ability (keep some units behind) to deal with raids in teamgames, and then complain too much (this is about what GS/Aiz have also said earlier).
Idk the renegado pike strat, though it sounds like that will not work in high level games ^^

Ruthless was pr 50 tier Spain ff basically. Playing at the time when grunt starsky ruthless were top three on the black ELO page. (4 ELO systems ago.)

I have a feeling he was probably similar to black ice Spain. One of those guys who was just kinda mediocre but one trick pony was super strong at that time.

I did the same thing actually around that time lol. I learned how to Spain ff every game and worked up to like pr 44 when I was 16 lol.

That's how non aztec players play it.
A good aztec would take the TPs, maybe try something like 10wp boom, ff can be viable, you also add pikes and maces so you don't just mass at the end etc...
