Defeating opponent bug
Defeating opponent bug
So I just played a russians mirror on Yucatan, the guy tried a weird strat and it didn't work, it was pretty obvious I'd win quickly. However, he didn't resign and hid his villagers on the end of the map. I think fine, I won't give him his rating. Then I find all his vills and fishing ships, kill his explorer, and even go to imperial age and take spies. In the end, I could see with spies he just had his water flag and incapped explorer left, yet he still wasn't defeated. How is this possible in an online game? It left me kind of pissed since I couldn't get my rating.
Re: Defeating opponent bug
Perhaps you missed one hidden spy or something, I don't think it should ever happen. If that's indeed the case, I'd be surprised
Re: Defeating opponent bug
But shouldn't spies and other stealth units be visible when you research spies? Otherwise that tech is pretty worthless after all. Might just be a bug, but a pretty annoying one.

I just checked the game stats, he had one fishing boat left (which you probably missed). So I quickly tested and apparently you are indeed still in the game when you only have 1 fishing boat. Mystery solved.

Thats so stupid I will make sure I flame this guy if I see him online

This probably isn't the case, but it's really easy to hide stealthy or unstealthy units next to built and unbuilt walls, especially if walls are spammed all over map

I still find it weird that I didn't see anything after taking spies, but I guess I could have missed it. Still annoying as fuck though. THanks for clearing it up though.

He probably hid the fishing boat on the edge of the map so you couldn't see it on the minimap.

Their shadows are visible though. I guess you meant the minimap, but who searches for trolls on the minimap only anyway?

I think the shadow is visible depending on what setting you are using. If you place the unit in the right spot/angle, they can be practically invisible
Re: Defeating opponent bug
Technically, they're always visible when spies are applied, as if they were yours!

I wonder which color is best for hiding at the end of the game strats.

TOTW #69: Not picking pink color before the game starts to then hide your villagers and spies around the map so that your enemy cannot spot them is bad.

It can be bad not to do that if you choose that strat, imagine trying to do with yellow or dark blue.

It depends, yellow could be decent in the desert!
