I use a mouse with 12 buttons along the left side. I them hooked up to a lot of hot keys, so I almost don't even use my keyboard. It brought my PR up by 4 no joke lol.

I experimented with it for a bit and came to a rather justified conclusion that it is impossible to select villagers in close groups using hotkeys. It is perfectly doable when clicking on the grey flag for such settlers while pressing shift, however, on a keyboard one cannot do it — they are able to select either one or all of the idle vills from the entire map.

i dont use shif space either, just space to find them and mouse select...

Btw, i use atack move on CAPSLOCK. Sometimes i respond to in game chat LIKE THIS, but other then that is fine..

Hmm I can easily do middle finger -> indexfinger for that one.

Btw one of the best and most useful hotkeys in the game is select all of same type.

Really shouldn't be necessary to use the same finger for those, you can rock between forefinger and thumb. It's easy for me, maybe because I play piano or something.

it's just what I'm used to hotkey wise. I also use spacebar for attack move with the same technique. I don't really change the setup much from default other than mapping select all of type and idle vill to my mouse buttons.

I also remapped "select all x buildings" to the defaults (eg ctrl-b etc) because it allows you to utilise multiple production buildings better.

Just set the idle vill key to be shift+space, have a hunt run out and press it. Voila

That, on the other hand, was a bit too drastic for me when I tested it, since I would just spam the space bar constantly expecting to select an idle vill xD
Shame the game doesn't allow two keys to be mapped for one action, just like it is in CoD — there you can for instance throw a grenade with default 4 or mouse wheel.

It took me a while to figure out how to do that key as well. In the end I didn't get used to it, so I use the normal spacebar and dragbox to select the idles lol

I wouldn't recommend that since you'll need to press space with your thumb or it'll put your index finger under way too much stress. Ideally you want your ring and middle fingers resting in the center of the number line on your keyboard so you can access all the control groups easily aswell as hotkeys.

I've found space ideal for going to the homecity since it's a good key when you don't immediately have it follow it up with another key press since you can just hammer it. I can't really think of anything else I'd put on space tbh.

I like "select all idle villagers" for space bar.
