Yeah, all the trivia and facts from the game require a lot of knowledge. It's certainly one of the best if not the best write-ups about AoE3 on such an „external" site, which seems to be a very popular and complex one, too! Be sure to familiarise yourself with the list, some of the points there are quite amusing!

TvTropes is a wikipedia that searches for identifiable patterns in storytelling/writing/game-designing/etc. and presents them in a humoristic way with both fictional and real (i.e. where they come from) examples.

Thoroughness and quality of the articles and examples vary though. This one is really decent.
