The thing is, I guess, that if you give a specific BO then someone can say that x beats it when the real question is what builds can best be counter-adapted to deal with any adaption, or what builds don't allow for much adaption in x MU.

Im torn between dutch vs spain which is a very hard match up, and probably one of those match ups against a rush civ that japan just loses really badly. I dont think india vs british is that onesided, brits often get a pretty nice timing that feels hard to hold as india.

perhaps also water with heavy-water deck, spies in age 2, halbs

making culvs, organs and a decent amount of anti cav is expensive, and vs a full boom japan I doubt you will have enough to somehow beat his army, I've never seen ports win vs an equally skilled japan but then I'm not really good so you might be right..

They are, that is true. But if you see organ+culv+goon would you ashi+FA?

I'm not denying it's hard — I just doubt it's impossible :hmm:

@yemshi , instead of goons you could go 20 halb + 15 cass :?

rly? idk, 5 yabs is probably equivalent to 2 culvs in anti-art potential.

Japan has better eco and better units. If port go musk+organ+culverin for a very slow timing, japan will have 80+ fully-upgraded ashi and win 1z2z.

Not on EP, I guess, and I don't think it's that slow, you could go for a pike-semi or something with spies to delay the Jap shrine boom into something like 2 organs/1000w/1000c or even 2 organs/1000c for culvs and more artillery.

Do they really die to musks with 50% RR? :hmm:

Yabusame have almost no attack though. Against cav they're maybe the worst goon unit, against artillery they're nice. Everything else eats up Yabusame with tea at 5 pm.

I wouldn't entirely agree, they have 18 range and 50% RR with 200 HP (as much as goons'), do 28 dmg vs cav (33 of goons) and 64 to artillery (22 of goons), and on top of that they have 1.5 ROF. Ofc they cost more, but they're not that terrible once you make some — definitely better pop usage! :kinggreen:
