Re: tips
Your town center had a lot of idle time in the Discovery Age, because you chose to build a trading post while gathering food with a lot of your villagers. This, and the fact that you started building your Agra Fort when you had 1400 food, delayed your age-up time significantly (your enemy was in the Colonial Age when you had just begun building the Agra Fort).
However, he did not punish you for this, so no major damage done. When you see your enemy going for a mix of musketeers and crossbowmen, don't hesitate to train gurkhas instead of sepoys - especially when you already have a good mass of sepoys to defend your gurkha against an eventual surprise by hussars.
The reason you lost so many villagers is that your villagers were extremely exposed. First of all, you did not herd at all - that is something you should learn to do at this point. When you have an Agra Fort in the middle of the map, it can still be very safe to gather far away from your town center, as long as you are close to your Agra Fort. You should herd either towards your town center, or your Agra Fort - whichever is closest. If you for some reason don't herd, at least build a castle nearby to save your villagers. There is no shame in building a castle.
